New grab and go

Posted By Darrell Hensley

Hi Floyd, that look's great. I had alway's had good luck with these mount's. Actually if it were'nt for these mount's and the reflector's I don't think I would have been in the hobby. There are no astronomy store's around here so I got the 4.5" reflector with the one armed mount from the outlet on Meade then the 5" from Bill Vorce, on telescope warehouse. It was enough to keep my interest soaring then I found Astromart and started learning alot more about the hobby.

That little mount and shakey tripod held my AR5 for about 3 month's while I was saving for a different one. You made that one look great, kinda fancied it up.

Do you believe in ghosts?

Posted By Darrell Hensley

Hi Lee, I don't believe in ghost's myself but the stuff they use in movies that track energy are actually the thing's they use in real life. At least that's what they say in some of Art Bell's program's. I use to listen to him while driving from work 90 mile's away several years back. Kept me awake at least.
Keep looking, Darrell

Spaceweather.com photo from Iran

Posted By Darrell Hensley

That is nice Darian, I think all astronomer's are on the same playing field with one thing on their mind's, and that is the beauty of the sky.

The citizen's of Iran for the most part like us and want their freedom's, maybe we should send telescope's to the government official's and then they will chill out and relax. You know, keep their mind's off of nuclear bomb's and suicide vest's. It might just work till one of them see's the ISS and start's thinking that they might be able to send a suicide astronaut up.

Too many scopes...Your suggestions?

Posted By Darrell Hensley

Hi Bill, I've never heard of too many scope's but can imagine what you mean. Just price those babies out on the classified's and they will disappear in just a few day's I'm sure. Sound's like some nice equipment.

Another brain storm, a counter weight caddy!

Posted By Darrell Hensley

Hi Floyd, I see you're having fun again. Great idea, that's the great thing about our hobby, you just get a small twinkle of an idea and a very useful product come's out of it. There's just so many thing's that we can do to have fun, rain or shine.

Hey, I built a table similar to your's using a wide piece of the white plastic, kinda put's you in the mind of teflon. It has room for about 9 1.25" EP's and several 2" EP's, I think 5, I only have 4 so I guess I'll have to get another one.

Because of all the dew we get in Kentucky I put on siderail's and a cover for the top. To keep it lite I bought one of the retractable window shade's for an automobile to keep them covered. I've been thinking about fixing a spot for a portable 12 volt defroster to blow across them also, much cheaper than the Kendrick's.

You wont believe what I used for the leg's and frame. I had an old aluminum dinette chair in a shed and took the back off and just made the wood frame to hold the plastic for the EP's. It actually weigh's about 5 or 6 pound's without the EP's.

I wish I could show you but same old story, still no new camera.
Thank's for all the idea's and help you have given me for the more than a year of being here on Amart.
Best Regard's, Darrell

New Tracking Mount for Refractors

Posted By Darrell Hensley

Just imagine how many riding mowers and washing machine's were killed to build this fine mount. What's it run on, regular or high test?

Eyepiece Cases Foam

Posted By Darrell Hensley

Hi John, You have had a lot of good suggestions, I like the camera shop option if one is available to you.

If you ever need another case you may want to try Walmart. I bought the aluminum pistol case with the pluck foam already installed complete with locks and metal latches and handle. It will hold all the eyepieces you need to carry with you. It is the size of a brief case and very sturdy.

For now try the most convenient option for the foam you need in the case you now have.

Good Luck, Darrell
