As twilight fades, visitors line up behind the scopes to look thru the eyepiece of this C14 brought to the site by Chris Erickson, who sets up his scope pretty much every Tuesday and helps people to look thru the eyepiece and explains what they are seeing. This night it was Jupiter and then the Moon.
People are delighted to see the Moon, even when full, and all you hear are gasps and WOWs as they see it for the first time at 80x. Chris even shows them how to take I-phone pictures of what they have seen. Chris is the one facing away from the scope, holding a quite bright red light so that people don't run into the tripod.
I was at another C14 and showed people the open clusters in Auriga. Celestron donated the tube assemblies for two C14s and one C11. The mounts came from AP. 900, 110 and 1200 equatorials on Losmandy tripod-piers.

Thanks all for your kind words. I will probably shoot a bit more data for these two galaxies before moving on. Spring is the most hopeful season for us old timers who have weathered a long winter, and these galaxies in Leo are harbingers of warmer days just like the crocuses and robins.

I do a lot of imaging at our observatory in a light polluted industrial park. I routinely shoot to the west over our factory building and do not experience much degradation of the image. If you were doing planetary imaging, then indeed you want to avoid warm roofs. Long exposure deep sky cannot resolve those finer details and would not be affected the same way, at least in my experience.
Attached is an image I just took last night, most of the 20 frames were taken directly over our factory building. Even with our severe light pollution, stacking 20 x 10 minute exposures produced images of faint galaxies down to mag 19.6 with the 8300 chip. lens size is 167mm, focal length 1000mm. resolution of stars was approximately 1.8 arc seconds FWHM for each of the 10 minute exposures.
