I guess that I am just too sensitive, but I just don't think that this will do much to help the average Iraqi trust and co-operate with us.

Military Documents Contradict Kerry Critic

Thurlow swore in an affidavit last month that Kerry was "not under fire" when he rescued Lt. James Rassmann from the Bay Hap River.

Thurlow's records, obtained by the Post under the Freedom of Information Act, include references to "enemy small arms and automatic weapons fire" directed at all five boats in the flotilla that day. In his Bronze Star citation, Thurlow is praised for helping a damaged Swift boat "despite enemy bullets flying about him."

Jim, this is a childish waste of time, even for you.

Your logic is:

Assume that Bush is successful and Kerry is not, therefore Kerry does not deserve to be President.

That is just dumb.

The facts are that Kerry has been successful and that Bush has been a disaster since he has been president. He didn't have a very good record before that.

In 1969 raised my right hand and volunteered to serve my country because I felt I owed America that much. After training, I volunteered for Vietnam because that's were I was needed.

Knowing what I know now, I don't know whether I would do anything different. It still hurts to revisit those memories. There is one thing I am sure of - John Kerry earned the right to speak out against the war. There certainly was a lot to speak out about. We were trying to win the hearts and minds of the Vietnamese so they would embrace Democracy. The body count was the yardstick we used to measure our success.

Joseph, if you are a Vietnam Vet, I respect and understand your feelings. If you are not, I must take what you say with a grain of salt.

I doubt it. It looks like McGreevy's "friend" is a recent greedy opportunist. It takes years to become a top Pentagon analyst, unless the spy was brought in by Feith or Wolfowitz.

What is pathetic is the Bush campaign's total lack of ethics when it comes to dirty tricks. Even many Republicans balk at Karl Rove's tactics and Karl does speak for the White House.

There is a downside to his tactics. I, for one, am politically active for the first time in my life. Here is another:

1. The belief that certain persons or members of certain classes or groups deserve favored treatment by virtue of their perceived superiority, as in intellect, social status, or financial resources.

2. The sense of entitlement enjoyed by such a group or class.
Control, rule, or domination by such a group or class.

Republicans like to call Democrats "elitist", but Bush is an elitist if there ever was one. He is a member of a rich, powerful family with a long history of oil connections. He spent his younger years in board rooms of failed businesses, bailed out one time after another by his rich friends. He may try to fool us with phony "county" style, but he was born in Connecticut an elite family. I still cannot understand how an admitted drunk with a history of failures could have become our President. It just shows how much money and power control the system.

In any case, when his life was on the line, he certainly does not hesitate to claim the privileges of the rich and connected.

1. Your reference is to a blog. Blogs have no responsibility or credibility.

2. The image you point out does not attempt to explain links between Kerry and moveon.org, much less prove them.
