Simply breathtaking. Film shots of M42 published in S&T back in the late '70's seems to be what hooked me .
A wonderful job of capturing the faint outer regions of nebulousity.

f10 or f6.3 - newbie needs help!

I've owned an LX200 10" f6.3 for three years now. It is a wonderful widefield scope as far a SCT's go. The problem occurs (as others have stated) when using the scope for planetary viewing or webcam imaging.
At f6.3, I need to use a 4x Powermate to TRY to produce the
images of f10 other SCT owners.

As for imaging Deep Sky objects, I tend to use a ED refractor, 300D combination. The images tend to be of much higher quality before processing. The "cropping " tool in all image editing software is a great thing smile

IMHO go for the f10 scope (and Digital Rebel) you'll be happy with your choice.

That is a beautiful image !! Are you using a modified Rebel ? I tried this area two nights ago with short exposures @ iso1600.......to noisy even after subtracted darks. You have done a fine job of getting the most out of the Rebel. I have always admired the image of the Horsehead region on the rear cover of "Nightwatch" by Terence Dickinson....that was until I opened your image file. smile

I to am restricted for space. Even though I use an SCT, here's mine. 8x14 footprint......no extended rails....roll-off design with warm room. Works for me (I have a poor view to the west.

I use a Dell 17" flat panel CRT and a Pantone Color Vision Spyder. The most important tool of all IMHO.

Canon D20 and DSLR Focus

Alex,

Try re-installing "Zoom Browser EX" from your Canon software. When the camera is turned on...(after the computer and DSLR are running)...does the Zoom Browser software open? It should ask if you would like to use this program. You should have to click on cancel and this should open the image window in DSLR. After clicking on "camera connect" .

Hope I'm on the same track. Give it a try.
