Another Repub Investigated

Posted By Rod Kaufman

This time it's Curt Weldon R-Pa for allegedly using his influence to secure a 1 million dollar contract for his daughter. The FBI is said to be conducting a criminal investigation into the matter.
Rep Weldon denies any knowledge of the matter being investigated by the FBI.
Hmm, someone appears to be fibbing here, it couldn't possibly be him, could it?
His daughter did get the contract, didn't she? How did that happen? Maybe she's just another astute business woman with an MBA...

Wild West Conservatives: Gunning For Judges

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Don't like the ruling on your case that a judge has made?
Sue the crap out of him, that's what the conservatives in South Dakota propose to do in their November ballot measure.
Don't like a ruling a judge has made because it runs contrary to your political beliefs?
Recall the SOB, that's what a conservative November ballot measure proposes in Montana. Montana conservatives demand satisfaction with their judges or else...
Republican conservatives and pastors vigorously condenm jugdes whose rulings go against what they see as "the will of the people."
In Oregon, for example, an amendment would require supreme court and appeals judges to be elected by geographic district so they would "reflect the values of conservative rural communities."
"We shall overcome"...law and order...

Yippe! We're a Nation of 300 Million!

Posted By Rod Kaufman

The US gets one additional person every 11 seconds.
That's why as of this Tuesday we become a country of 300 million.
The main reasons for the dramatic increase are:
1.Birth rates outpace death rates.
2.Immigration, ie migrant immigration.
According to CNN, migrant immigration happens at a rate of one migrant added to the US every 30 seconds or so. Even if it stopped today, CNN states hispanic fertility rates significantly outpace non-hispanic fertility rates so the the trend has built-in momentum.
What are the effects of this kind of explosive population growth?
The environment is taking it on the chin. We're now the most prolific creators of carbon dioxide emissions. Development, especially in the western states, is doubling and land is being consumed without natural resourses, such as water, to support it.
Energy consumption continues to go ballistic.
Not to mention overcrowed schools and hospitals and health care in general.
In addition to the above, the trend is now for more affluent families who remain in the traditional definition of a family unit, to have more than three children as opposed to one or two.
In reading some of the accounts of large families on the CNN website, one can see a mini-disaster in the making. One family of ten has to tip the garbage collectors to pick-up their garbage because of the extreme amount of it. Multiple the latter by 300 million and you begin to get the idea...

Finally, a little thought being applied

Posted By Rod Kaufman

I've read and heard the same articles together with reports of the top military brass supposedly re-examining the US role in Iraq.
For it's part, the Bush administration stated while it would consider Baker's recomendations, it doesn't mean any of them would be implemented.
Bush, of course, called Iraq's leader and assured him there's no timetable for a pullout and no date for a turnover of security responsibilities to the Iraqis. The decider has spoken.
Remember what Bush said: He will remain in Iraq even if he's supported by only three: Laura, himself and Barney(his dog)...

Finally, a little thought being applied

The panel's recommendations, which won't be released until after the November elections, are apparently "non-starters" according to White House spokesman Tony Snow.
Any consideration of dividing Iraq into a tripartite state is a "non-starter".
Any consideration of a mild troop withdrawl at a mere 5% every two months is a "non-starter".
What is apparently acceptable?
Don't cut and run, stay the course, more of the same.
FYI: I predicted North Korea would take the heat off the Republicans and the Foley debacle and sure enough, that's what the pundits are saying is happening. I agree with one pundit on KNX news radio today that if the elections were held TODAY, the Republicans would lose control of both the senate and the house. But, November on the holidays are several weeks away and another nuke test by North Korea and some hype from the adminstration and it's a whole new ballgame...

Bush: It's Never Been:Stay The Course

Posted By Rod Kaufman

I can't believe it. I just can't believe what I've heard. Bush stated yesterday he never said or had a "Stay The Course" policy on Iraq. Bush told George Stephnopolous(sp?)he never stated such a thing.
Of course the media has Bush on tape stating just that, over and over again but two weeks before an election Bush stays on course as the lying sack of ---- that he truly is.
How bad does it have to get before the public wakes up and recognizes this guy for what he is?
Oh, BTW, it's now Iraq's fault for the current situation over there and THEY better fix it. The decider has spoken...

Re: Ney resigns...

"Why has it taken him so long to make this decision?"
Don't know but maybe he can sit in jail with Randy "Duke" Cunnigham and they can talk about the good 'ol times...
Upon reflection, perhaps it's really a Democratic plot to steal the election with the timing of the resignation just a few short days before November 7. As a result, I fully expect everyone to see this stunt for what it is and vote REPUBLICAN!!!

Texasborderwatch.com

Texas wants your eyes on your favorite Texan border-webcam.
That's right, go the above website and set up an account with the state of Texas and you'll be provided with a password immediately with subsequent access to one of eight webcams where you can monitor the border of Texas for illegal activity.
I did it and it was fast and easy.
The civil liberties union is reported to be upset about it because they say it will result in racial profiling :S
Anyhow, it's a test site and if it works, more cams will appear with thermal imaging.
Frankly, all the site asks you to do is report suspicious/illegal activity and law enforcement takes it from there. It's kind of like a neighborhood watch program except you do it in your spare time from the comfort of your home computer...

Afghanistan: It's Getting Worse

Posted By Rod Kaufman

KNX news radio interviewed a special forces expert regarding the resurgent Taliban as a tape in the background provided audio of an incoming Taliban morter attack on American forces while Canadian forces were pinned down in a firefight.
The special forces expert describes the Taliban as adapting sophisticated techniques similar to those utilized by the Viet Cong during the Vietnam war. The Taliban have learned the art of war by massing instantly as a group and atttacking with lightening speed and then melting away in unison. They don't use a mass attack as an army might employ but they assemble individually and then mass precisely at the proper moment and fade away before their group can be hit.
The special forces expert lamented that we just don't have enough troops in Afganistan while the Taliban is getting stronger...
