Is it better not to have IR cut filter on planetar

Posted By Paul Maxson

If you use filters for RGB on a mono camera, most of them have IR cut built in. They are usually much better quality than the one on the camera, so personally I'd remove it and let the filters take care of it.

Binoculars heck! I've been using them for glasses since I was 15!

The big secret has still yet to be disclosed. The bottom of the bottles is already a lens. Just tape 2 empties togather and you have binoculars. Works for me. smile

Bizzare trade offers

Posted By Paul Maxson

I got a similar offer when I sold my SM60 (I'm glad I'm not the only one). A guy offered $2400 in fine wine, saying it will only go up in value. I felt like writing back saying to go ahead and sell the wine for $2400 and send me my price in cash....HAHA!! I also noticed that the person had zero ratings.

Fortunately I had already sold the product, so a polite "sorry, sold" was all I needed to do.

Ganymede Totally Occults Io - May 4

Curt,

Nice catch! Unfortunately, for those of us in Arizona, Jupiter will only by 7 degrees above the horizon at the time. I hope you can catch it!

Sun on May 11th

Luca,

Very nice image, even if the sun has been disappointing.

I'm waiting on my Lunt LS100 filter, hopefully the sun will start cooperating soon.
