These occultation and transit posts are fantastic! I appreciate the effort.

New scope on the way

That sounds great! I have a buddy who has one and he totally loves it. I have an LS100F on order and hope to see it by late August....now all we need is some solar activity...LOL.

Last month some friends and I spent four days at Cherry Springs, PA. We had three clear nights and days. During the day we observed the Sun through a Coronado PST. I just thought it was so cool. Well this month I had my 20th anniversary at my current job. I got some extra money for it and promptly order a Lunt 60mm H-alpha scope, model B1200. I should have it in about 3 weeks. I'm really looking forward to its arrival.

Peter,

Nothing to be ashamed of there...very nice! I'm assuming you are using the Series 5000 3x telextender? I just got one a couple of weeks ago and it sure is a performer!

Is a Mewlon 250 the right direction ??

Posted By Paul Maxson

I have owned a M250 for about 4 years now and only a M300 would convince me to sell it. I use it 95% for planetary imaging and it is a super performer! I had a C11 and C925 just before I got the Mewlon...no comparison! Also, I owned a TOA-130 at the same time as the Mewlon, and it is a fantastic scope. Comparing the two, I still say aperture is king when I image the planets. You can look at my images by clicking on my webpage. There are some DSO's shot with the Mewlon as well.

James Edwards gave me so much help in my decision to buy the Mewlon and I have not regretted it. Thanks James.

line in processed image

Alex,

Looks like you used the MAP feature in Registax. Sometimes Reg has trouble putting everything back together and you see a line like that.

Large prominence from just a few hours ago!

Luca,

I saw a couple of Proms when I was out yesterday (28-10). Where in relation to the sunspot was that prom? I think I may have imaged it and haven't had time to process it yet.

By the way, very impressive image!

Hi guys,
if you have a solar scope and some time don't loose this one: it is a real beauty!
