Is this man a traitor?

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Is this man a traitor?
Nope, he's a lobbyist.
And he's really not that much different from another recent Bush appointee who acts as an advisor to the president but represents the interests of corporate America.

The Price is Too High?????

Posted By Rod Kaufman

"What's next- an actor as president?"
Quite possibly, if Fred Thompson's health holds up. He's already given the smoking gun in the form of a mushroon cloud analogy that proved so succcessful for the Bush team. He promoted this fear-mongering rhetoric a few weeks ago in a speech. No matter who it happens to be for the Republicans, it will be more of the same...

Above The Law

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Now that Cheney has been called on his abusive and secretive ways in conducting the office of vice presidency, his "out" is now provided by Bush in the claim that Bush's own executive rule does not apply to either one of them. Cheney's ridiculous claim that his office is not part of the executive branch of government is just that: ridiculous. Moreover, the complete disregard for the rule of law is truly appalling in this episode. It just goes to show how far removed from reality these two truly are.
Bush, worse than Nixon...

Libby Appeal Denied

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Scooter is one step closer to going to prison now that an appeals court blocked his bid to avoid it. His supporters, who have contributed millions on his behalf, remain undeterred, claiming he'll just get his pardon from Bush that much sooner. Of course, the Libby team can appeal directly to chief justice Roberts, but let's hope the blatant nature of the scooter lies and obstruction of justice can't be undone by a hair-splitting legal technicality.
Then the spotlight will focus on Bush. I think we all know where this one is heading...

Lying Bush Hypocrisy

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Bush has defended his decision to commute the 30 month sentence of Libby on the grounds that it was "excessive."
But a lead story in today's LA Times reports that the Bush administration via the Justice Department sought sentences that are as long or longer than what Libby got for a single obstruction of justice charge, one of four charges Libby was convicted for.
The average sentence for a single obstruction of justice charge as sought by the Bush administration has been SEVENTY MONTHS!
Sentencing experts have now stated that the Bush's action is "unprecedented." "We can't find any cases, certainly in the last half of the century where a president commuted a sentence before it had even started to be served."
In addition, the probation portion of the Libby sentence may now be void. The sentencing judge said "it was unclear whether a defendant who had not done jail time could still be subject to supervisory release."
Sentencing experts have summed up what Bush has done in one word, "ludicrous"...

Aussie minister admits Oz is in Iraq over oil!

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Yesterday's headline story in the LA Times was the report that the number US contractors actually exceeds the number of US troops in Iraq. A Brookings spokesperson was quoted as saying the "coalition of the willing" is actually the "coalition of the billing"!
Many of these contractors are actually hired guns by the Pentagon to provide security. A retired general has called the situation with contractors as "obscene".
Meanwhile, the average hardcore Bush voter thinks we're doing missionary work in Iraq...

Stonewalling Bush

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Bush for brains is at it again, invoking executive privilege to shield members of his elite inner circle from divulging the truth about who's responsible for firing of the attorneys.
Next up, it's Tony Snowjob with his denial of division in the White House ranks on what to do about Iraq. As usual, it's more of the same! How could it be any other way?
Nevermind that yet another Republican senator is calling for a change in strategy in Iraq. What do those turncoats know about it anyway? So what if the Iraqi government hasn't even made "modest" advances in meeting political objectives. They're on summer vacation, for pete's sake!
What do these freakin Republican senators think when they demand accountability on "the global war on terror?"
They obviously lack Bush's ability for strategic vision...

Bush's Budget Hypocrisy

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Bush's is going after the Democrats with righteous indignation by threatening a veto of a budget bill that's roughly 13 billion over his personal professional estimate of fiscal responsibility. Uh huh.
He's castigating the Democrats for overspending on education programs and a fair amount of earmarks and entitlements and the like.
Where was his voice when the Republican were spending like drunken sailors in the last congress?
Where is his voice now that the monthly spending in Iraq exceeds 10 billion PER MONTH?
The Republicans defeated a Democratic bill to force the oil companies to pay billions in taxes for development of alternative fuels but let the Democrats run a bill that's billions less than that that but more than Bush likes and it's those darn "tax and spend Democrats!"

Where Does Bush Find Them?

Posted By Rod Kaufman

The point is the Democrats allow dissenting views from spectators, President Clinton was noted for allowing protestors to make a bit of noise during his appearances.
The tolerance by Bush for any opposing views from any of Bush's orchestrated town hall meetings is:

Where Does Bush Find Them?

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Bush had his "town hall meeting" in Cleveland yesterday.
While I realize that his audience is carefully prescreened in order to prevent any possibility of dissent, I have to wonder where he found them.
It appears his staff must have canvassed the local churches in the area. The people looked like they were dressed right out of the '50s and one guy looked like a dead ringer for Dick Cheney.
Then his political hack testified today before the congressional committee investigating the firing of the attorneys. You should have heard her. What a joke! She testified she couldn't testify on certain questions because she took an oath to the president! Senator Leahy reminded her that she didn't take an oath to the president, rather she took an oath to the constitution! And, according her, nothing inappropriate took place regarding the firings of the attorneys. So that's why we still don't know who the person is who was responsible for their firings and why executive privilege has been invoked...
