Pastors to challenge IRS

Hopefully, I've demonstrated well enough that I'm a social conservative so I can give my answer. IMHO all of these pastors should absolutely refrain from endorsing anybody. On the level of civics, its a bad move since it looks like the Church(es) getting too much into the affairs of civil government. More importantly to me, it's a bad move from a Christian perspective in general because it links the Church(es) to individual politicians who may or may not have hidden aspects of their lives that are not Godly or have hidden agenda that may be disappointing to them.

OTOH, I have absolutely NO problem with the Church(es) speaking out on political issues, many of which cross over into religious governance. For example, this ad promulgated by the Catholic Church

is fair game for pulpits such as ours. Our PCA pastor played it as well he could AND should. FYI, somewhat to my surprise (my understanding is that PCA Presbyterians don't think much of Catholicism), the congregration gave spontaneous applause to the film and the pastor spoke well of it. I may have been the one bringing it to his attention, having been made aware of it here on AM (thanks, Herb)....

I do nearly all my observing from my yard. Most of the year a bunch of trees in my back yard screen the North Star from my view. But it's visible in winter and I have made a few observations with a 4" refractor a while back. It was a nice split at about 110X, the companion showing a soft bluish tint. I'll have to try it with my 5" refractor....

I am more inclined to be prejudiced toward cultures and not skin color which I am sure is the case with many of us crackers. For example, if you are against affirmative action you might be classified as racist.
What I haven't seen are polls where blacks and hispanics are asked their feelings toward whites, each other, asians, etc.

I agree, 100%. In fact, that's how I felt on the day after Election Day in 2008. In the tenor of the posts from my keyboard concerning the President, his administration, and his policies dating back to that day, I promise to (1) not refer to Mr. Obama by anything except his name or his title, the President, even when I'm coming down on his policies or actions, and (2) give him credit for anything he or his administration does that IMHO is good by me. Hopefully my posts of the last four years have demonstrated this....

In what part of Florida will you be making your home? I was born and raised in Jacksonville myself. We'll be going down there as we usually do to have Thanksgiving dinner with my parents, brothers, sisters, nephews, and nieces. I love the greenery, the moss, the ponds and lakes. Unfortunately, my girls who are native North Carolinians, don't quite see it that way. They talk about Satan's drink (the sulphur water from some wells down there). On coming back from our last trip down there in May, as we were driving along I485 going past Pineville, my youngest, half humorously and half in ecstasy, exclaimed, "Look at all that wonderful clay!" Oh well, the area around Charlotte is a nice second best. 8)

Enjoy your stay in the Sunshine State.

Maybe her parents, friends, or mentors will convince her to pray for the President, and improve things around here.

How does that compare to the fulminations of people twice or three times her age saying EXACTLY the same things eight years ago after George W Bush was re-elected president? You know, people like Alec Baldwin who six years before that, during the Clinton impeachment hearings, screamed on the airwaves about wanting to go to the house of Henry Hyde and other congressmen, shoot them, then shoot their wives and children. By the way, did any of your media ever call him on that?

Hi Rob, Dave, et.al. This is one of those few areas where I'm calling it for the President. It's one of the few issues where maybe I tilted for the President over Governor Romney in that Mr. Obama is trying to make sanctions and other moves work before starting a war with Iran. There may be things that he could be doing or maybe even now (hopefully) is doing, for example like talking to the Iranians' pals in Moscow and telling Mr. Putin that if Iran starts anything with Israel, the US is going to swat Iran hard. Also, who knows what covert actions the President might be sanctioning, things like this Sextut worm, problems with the Iranians enrichment facility. Again, this is an area where I'll cut the President some slack....
