Bush: Vietnam Embolden Terrorists

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Bush, in one of the most bizzare and wacko stretches of the imagination, is attempting to draw parallels between Vietnam and Iraq, by claiming our failure in the former is emboldening the terrorists in the latter.
This guy will stop at nothing to rationalize and justify the war in Iraq.
Using Bush's logic, perhaps the US embolden the terrorists by taking its territory away from the American Indians thereby initiating a global jihad against the crusader in an effort to return their lands to their rightful owners.
Why stop there? There's always Attila the Hun and...

US Officials ON Iraqi Democracy

Posted By Rod Kaufman

A viable democracy and a sovereign government has been a stated goal of the Bush administration.
Now, "exasperated front line generals talk openly of non-democratic governmental alternatives", as per CNN
"Democratic institutions are not necessarily the way ahead in the long term future", according to Brig Gen John Bednarek of Task Force Lightning. "Government that simply functions would satify many", (Hmm, sounds like what we want in the US!)
Major Gen Benjamin Mixon, also of task force lightning, stated he'll be content if a functioning Iraqwi government actually occurs and firther states "democracy is merely an option."
Even more important is the upcoming report from Patraeus and Crocker who now concede they are "now engaged in pursuing less lofty American goals for Iraq's future."
In other words, they can recognize reality even though their commander in chief can not...

Bush's Gonzales

Posted By Rod Kaufman

In a perversion of our justice system, George W Bush has manipulated the office of attorney general of the United States as his own personal pawn. As demonstrated in the link below, his reasons are myriad:
http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1649297,00.html

In addition, further contempt for democracy in the United States is demonstrated by the actions of our executive branch of government:

This shows you how bad our system of government has been eroded by the Bush administration.

Separation of Church and State: Military

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Despite assurances from the Pentagon, it appears that a steady stream of religious fervor is being inculcated into our military. This violates official US military policy and appears to be unconstitutional as well:

It seems that this situation could only arise in the Bush administration.

Which Bush To Believe

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Earlier in the week, Bush expressed his "frustration" with the Iraqi Prime Minister but recanted on Wednesday and called him a good guy whom he supports.
Not to be outdone, the Iraqi prime minister responded he can find friends elsewhere (ie Iran) if Mr Bush doesn't like him anymore.
I would just be besides myself if AL Miki and George weren't friends anymore. But Bush's statements change from day to day and whichever way the wind blows. (And boy, does it blow).
And now we have the national intelligence estimate (leaked to CCN) which essentially states the intelligence community doesn't have any confidence in Al Miki. (Too bad they didn't rate Bush!)
Anyhow, it's evident it's all just another clusterbush day in the good 'ol USA!

Re: Al-Maliki learning truth about donkeys

Posted By Rod Kaufman

I wonder how Al-Maliki is taking it from the Republicans who want him out, as noted in the link, and from the GOP lobbying group in Washington that faxed everbody under the sun in an effort to get him out.
It looks like Al Maliki is learning the truth about the Republicans...

Another Republican Busted

Republican senator Larry Craig, fined after being arrested by a plainclothes policeman investigating complaints of lewd behavior in an airport in St Paul.
One can only imagine what sick, disgusting and hypocritical acts were perpetrated by the arrested and guilty Republican from the God-fearing state of Iowa...

Saving Afghanistan

An interesting read from an op-ed of the Los Angeles Times on how to save Afghanistan which pops in an out of the Bush radar screen. If Bush and his administration and their Republican supporters could only comprehend it...

Iraq Report Card: Failure

Posted By Rod Kaufman

The GAO has issued its report card on Iraq progress: Failure in almost all areas.
As for the following link, both the Pentagon and, of course, the Bush Administration have now begun to "sanitize" the report for consumption by the public. As can be seen, they attacked the messenger (the GAO) and claim the methodology of the report is somehow in error. Both entities had plenty of time in advance to comment on the methodology of the report before it was created. But now that they don't like the result, they blame the outcome on the messenger.

Republicans Nearly Shot Down

Posted By Rod Kaufman

A C130 leaving Baghdad with a boatload of Republican congressman nearly got its butt shot off after the plane released flares and took evasive action to avoid missile strikes, as per CNN.
The Republican team with one token Democrat aboard was leaving Baghdad for Jordan when the attack occurred. Perhaps it will have a sobering effect on the Republicans who'll think twice about rubber-stamping anything Bush wants on Iraq...
