White House Guide for Bush

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Anybody else heard this on CNN?
I caught the tail-end of a news story on CNN which seemed to describe a White House guide for Bush on how to pronounce words, essentially at a third grade level.
Words like detainee, pronounced de-tae-knee. Oh my god...
No wonder the United States is laughed at by the rest of the world.

You mean it will take us more than a year at this point to extricate ourselves from Iraq?

US Senate Endorses Biden Plan

Posted By Rod Kaufman

The US Senate overwhelmingly endorsed a non-binding resolution supporting Senator Joe Biden's plan to provide three autonomous regions in Iraq, one each for the Sunnis, Shiites, and the Kurds. A significant number of Republicans supported the measure which flies in the face of Bush's failed policy of a strong, centralized controlling government headquartered in Baghdad.
As a further testament of Bush's failed policy of a centralized government in Baghdad, a state department agency reported today that the Iraqi government can't even provide rudimentary anti-corruption enforcement in its own ranks. The Iraqi government is reportedly aggressively resistant to any outside anti-corruption agency being formed to deal with the problem. It just gets worse...

Bush About To Ream Middle Class

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Bush is set to veto health care for kids. His reason? It provides for health care for kids who might be in the middle class! SO WHAT!!! So what if some of the kids happen to be in the midlle class. Don't middle class families deserve a break in the cost of health care? The poor kids will, of course, receive health care anyway at either federal or state expense or both.
I watched the news last night with several tapes of candidate Bush touting the need for federally subsidized health care. Now, when the bill arrives at his desk, it's time for Mr fiscally conservative Bush to reign back the spending from the evil Democrats (and turncoat Republicans).
And nevermind we send 12 billion down the toilet in Iraq every month! Geez...

Fred Thompson: Republican Candidate

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Fred Thompson appeared, along with other Republican candidates, in the important state of Florida.
According to the LA Times, "he appeared at sea" when asked important questions for the people of Florida, as well as the rest of the nation. He was asked to comment on the Terry Schiavo end-of-life case that consumed the nation in 2005. His response? "That's going back in history." "I don't remember the details of it."
He was asked about a pressing issue in Florida, energy exploration in the Everglades. His response? "Gosh, no one told me there's any major energy reserves in the Everglades."
He was then asked about a pressing issue in his home state: lethal injection potentially banned as unconstitutional. His response? "I hadn't heard that." "I don't know."
A Republican convention delegate was more to the point which was? The war in Iraq? No. Global warming? Nope. Darfur? No way. National health care? Are you kidding?
She was concerned about Fred Thompson's "sweet young thing" and her "plunging neckline" and their two infants at home. She said she was primarily concerned about older men getting the wrong idea and running off with younger women (Thompson's misses is two decades younger than he is.) But, I guess that's ok in the depths of some of the gene pools in this nation.
Abraham Lincoln must be turning in his grave...

"Ya Gotta Fight 'Em Over There..."

Posted By Rod Kaufman

You've heard it over and over again, the inane Republican reasoning for remaining in Iraq: "We have to fight them over there so we don't have to fight them over here."
Guiliani blurts it out at every opportunity. It's the rallying cry of the Republicans. For the moronic masses, it's the ultimate in "keep it simple stupid" marketing.
Let the sun shine in. If you bother to listen to Bush when he defends his administration against charges of employing torture and other questionable means of obtaining information from terrorists along with DOMESTIC spying, you would have him heard say, on multiple occasions, that the information obtained thus far has prevented various plots and stopped various actions of groups and individuals from harming and attacking the US. In other words, we already ARE fighting them over here...

Hillary and science

Bush and his administration gets their information, not from NASA and men of science, but from a higher source.
Bush also gets some of his buddies from the skull and bones click club from his days at Yale to become emissaries and ambassadors to foreign countries. Nothin like having the good 'ol boys in charge...

Carter: US Tortures Prisoners

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Jimmy Carter has told CNN that the US tortures its prisoners, saying, "I don't think it, I know it."
He also says Bush makes up his "own definition" of human rights.(Well, after all, Bush says, "I am the decider.")
The former president is also chiding the Republican contenders for war mongering on Iran. But what the heck, we can't get enough...

Re: Convienient Lies by Gore

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Some, if not all, of what the "judge" in this case reports represents his opinion on the issue. He finds "insufficient" evidence is his claim of "factual errors." Additional evidence has since been uncovered which, in fact, belies the judge's interpretation of the evidence. For example, the so-called error on the deaths of polar bears has been explored. A polar bear was visually tracked, after it's habitat (and hence its food supply) disappeared, and was it observed dying on the ice(not drowning)and no storms were accountable for the loss of habitat.
As we've seen from previous threads on the issue, some scientists disagree on the nature and severity of global warming and its effects on the environment. I don't see, for the most part, that scientists who disagree on the global warming claim that somebody is lying about the issue.
I suspect I could probably find more evidence to buttress what Gore says in his movie as being factually correct by this time, including the opinion(s) on what that judge happens to think and the case of that polar bear is a prime example...
