Larger Than 100MM Binoculars ?/ Please read!

Hi, all -- just to reinforce a few comments already made -- straight thru viewing isn't for the faint of heart (or neck). Plan to be on your back or with potential neck strain. I own and love my Nikon 20x120's which provide really beautiful sky views. I've jerry rigged my own mount but it's still a bit clumsy to use.

Hi, Joseph -- If I'm reading your question correctly there is no easy answer. It depends entirely on which DSO you want to see -- they vary a lot in size. For example, the Crab Nebula is small enough that you would want higher magnification but if you want to see the North American Nebula you won't be able to see more than a part of it with a scope having a focal length in the 2000mm range.
It's an interesting problem.
