Years ago, on Saturday Night at the Movies on NBC, there was a movie about a fellow named Leo who got trapped in a cave at the base of a mountain, somewhere in a rural, desert area with a few people populating the area.
A reporter from back East(?) for some reason was in the area and broke the story. Somehow it became a national story and hordes of reporters came to the area to cover the effort to save Leo.
Eventually, a carnival set up to entertain the people drawn to the area. The reporter was able to go far enough in the cave to talk with the Leo.
After a number of days Leo finally died, the entertainment was over, the carnival packed up and left, and the place returned to it's isolated status.
Anybody remember this movie or who starred in it?

I saw this at the theater, although it was advertised very little. It's a Western filmed in the outback of Australia.
Actually the story takes place in the late 19th century in the outback, and resembles a great deal the American West.
I found it very interesting how the characters were portrayed. Even the bad guys were given good qualities. The violence is somewhat graphic. The movie is rated R.
Anybody else see this?

I have been reading an interesting book entitled Christianity for Modern Pagans (Pascal's "Pensees", Edited, Outlined & Explained) by Peter Kreeft.
One intriguing question that is brought up pertains to the relation of man to the universe. Compare man's physical size to the cosmos (or to the volume of the Grand Canyon, which is not as abstract but nevertheless overwhelming).
Now consider the mind of man. What is it in relation to that is comparable to man's physical size to the cosmos?

Just looking at Jim Phillips' photo of Saturn, before clicking on it to blow it up, it reminded me of views through my 8" telescope. It's size is just about what you see when looking through the ocular on medium magnification. It just struck me as interesting.
