Try shaking the screw out of the focuser end. Surely collimation will be affected if you remove the objective. If you can't get the screw out of the focuser end, mark the position of the objective cell on the OTA so you can position it back in exactly the same place.

That's a very nice image and one that I prefer over many RGB M51 images I've seen here. I've always considered monochrome images to be "more scientific" than tricolors. Certainly, the RGB images are pretty to look at, but I think mono kinda takes me back to early film, science only, astrophotography before astronomers had the wonderful CCD and digital tools we have today. It's kinda nostalgic in a way.
I was a fine art photographer for many years and I always shot black and white film. So, in essence I still consider monochrome as the "purist" approach. Such is the case here with your M51. Keep up the great work.
