Mad Man Mitt versus Uncle Huck

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Romney's back at it, full throttle:
http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/12/31/romney.ads/index.html
I hope there's a voter backlash against this kind of negative attack ad that misrepresents the records of rival candidates.

Mad Man Mitt versus Uncle Huck

Posted By Rod Kaufman

It's classic Mitt Romney in the final moments of the present campaigns, violating one of Reagan's commandments: "Thou shall not dump on fellow Republicans.":
http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-na-campaign31dec31,0,5907567.story?coll=la-home-center
Mad man Mitt is ruuning so many attack ads on uncle Huck, we'll probably hear, "the devil made me do it", when everything is said and done. McCain is also the target of the mad man, incurring his wrath in such a way that uncle Huck is defending McCain! (See above link for details).
One can only imagine what the ultimate flip flopper will unleash on his Democratic opponent, should the mad man prevail...

Eliminating Property Taxes

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Here's another "brilliant idea" of how people can pay their taxes:
http://www.cnn.com/2007/LIVING/wayoflife/12/26/working.off.taxes.ap/index.html
Why not reduce taxes in the first place. Half the "services" we get in exchange for our money isn't worth spit anyway...

At Least One Candidate On Oil

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Well, at least there's one candidate who cares enough to comment on the cost of a barrel of oil:
http://www.johnedwards.com/news/press-releases/20080102-oil-prices/
About the only thing I've seen from the Bush admninistration is a statement from Cheney on how he thinks we should sit back because he thinks the economy can take it :S
As for the other canidates and their comments? Zilch...

Bush on the Economy

Posted By Rod Kaufman

I gotta wonder what kool aid Bush and Cheney are drinking these days, especially after Bush proclaims today that the financial markets are strong:
http://money.cnn.com/2008/01/04/news/economy/bush_economy.ap/index.htm?cnn=yes
I suggest Bush and Cheney can look at the stock market reports for an update on reality.
Anybody still seriously doubting a recession isn't on the horizon or that we have a depression in the housing market?

Elder Statesman Calls It Right

Posted By Rod Kaufman

History has proven George McGovern correct on Vietnam and it will likely do the same on Bush/Cheney. His views are succinct and demonstrable:

Unfortunately, we don't have the congressional backbone to do what ought to be done...

Welfare and Illegals

Posted By Rod Kaufman

With the governor of California about to give us the bad news about our state's 14 billion dollar deficit, the projected cost for illegals on welfare in Los Angeles county alone is:

The chief economist for Merrill Lynch said today our country is already in a recession. How much more of a give-a-way can we afford?

Polls and Politics

Jim,
I was thinking the same thing but they were accurate on McCain.
BTW, why does Edwards rub you raw?

Bush: Iran a Threat To World Peace

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Bush, instead of racheting the rhetoric and the "incident" down a few notches, has chosen instead to increase tensions and further describes the move by some small Iranian speedboats as "provocative."
http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/meast/01/09/us.iran/index.html
Bush now tells the world that Iran is a threat to world peace. Much of the world may very well consider Bush a threat to world peace...

Bush Administration Backs Gun Regulation

Posted By Rod Kaufman

The case for gun regulation in Washington D.C. got an unexpected boost from an unlikely source: the Bush administration. The gun control group in the case is pleasantly surprised by the turn of events:
http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-guns13jan13,1,4315366.story?coll=la-headlines-nation&ctrack=3&cset=true
Still, it's an uphill battle when you consider there's at least one supreme court justice who thinks it's ok to own machine guns(good 'ol boy Sammy probably owns 20 and wants another 20).
In the meantime, most of us are probably concerned more about the economy than gun rights anyway and you'll recall I previously stated we will be lucky to experience a mere recession if not a lot worse and now it appears others in the real world agree with me:
http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-econ13jan13,0,1109812.story?coll=la-home-center
But I was told I was merely "chicken little" yelling that the sky was falling. Oh well, things have a way of coming around...
