The Trump Wallace ReduxPosted By James Brown |
Bottom line, I'll vote straight ticket R this fall, with one possible exception. I support R tax, trade and foreign policies. I've donated to (R) Cory Gardner's senate campaign. I supported Gorsuch and Kavanaugh's nominations and confirmations. I was a delegate to the local and city R convention in 2016. And so on.Originally Posted by James Brown

Yes, I know what RINO means. Thank goodness for RINOs like Susan Collins from Maine or the Supreme Court might look a little different.
This is the part I am disagreeing with: "...they simply call themselves republicans despite their actions indicating otherwise."
This is a litmus test applied to categorize those who for whatever reason are not "Trump" Republicans. Basically, the reasoning goes like this, "If you don't agree with Trump, then you are no real Republican." I despise ideological purity tests. Nothing wrong with you or Rich applying an ideological purity test of course, but it does drive Rich to some extremely illogical conclusions.
When Trump applies ideological "with me or against me" purity tests, he knowingly alienates some voters who have voted R their entire lives. Trump obviously thinks that the benefit of whipping up his supporters is worth it. I personally do not think this is an indulgence Trump can afford if he wants to win in November. But he did it in 2016 and squeaked out a win, so what do I know?

But, I might not vote for Trump this November. In some folk's eyes, that makes me a RINO. That is a pretty stupid conclusion, in my opinion.
