Or, failing that, decreasing government assistance in incremental steps as the child ages and stops entirely at an average age of graduation of high school.

Just keep on voting Republican for 4 to 8 more years of status quo. Since Republicans are dedicated to maintaining the conservative tradition of more of the same, why even worry about the possibility of change as well as improvement?

Cutting the Cost of Oil

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Neither party seems to willing to deal with the present cause of the high cost of a barrel of oil:
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,166038,00.html
Today oil spiked around another three bucks or so per barrel, based upon pure speculation, when an American cargo ship fired at an Iranian speed boat. Not one drop of oil spilled and none was impeded in any manner. The cost in rising gasoline and diesel prices will likely be felt next week.
The speculation ought to be regulated and the cost of oil ought to be tied to the actual costs of production. Keep standing up for the so-called "free market" and there won't be a lot left standing...

John McCain's Timetable for Iraq

Posted By Rod Kaufman

As I was reading McCain's stands on the issues on his website, I got a real kick out of his timeline and timetable on Iraq. For most people, a timeline or timetable on Iraq means an exit strategy. Not so for McCain! It means how long he's been arguing for more troops to stay there! He even wants more troops there than we already have! It's the McCain surge!

Whose Got the Better Shot

So who is going to have the better shot at beating McCain?
According to a new poll, it's

While my expectation remains the same and I believe the beer queen and johnny will arrive in the fall at the White House, it's of interest that Clinton has opened up a bit of a margin.

Now That's What I Call Leadership!

If Bush thinks the gas tax cut is such a good idea, why didn't the proposal originate with him? What has he himself proposed to do anything about the problem?
Why has congress had to demand Iraq spend its oil windfalls on itself instead using US funds to continue reconstruction? Why didn't Bush or someone in his administration think to do it?

Is Rove Kidding on McCain?

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Karl Rove says McCain is too private and he should be hyping his Vietnam experience. Is he kidding? Virtually every TV commercial I've seen on McCain has him either being captured out of the water or laying in a bed in the Hanoi Hilton. What more does Rove want?
