I am not as up to speed on the plight of the McCloskys as you are Rich.  Did the AG already drop the case?  If so, the system is vindicated again.  It will be interesting to see if the original DA is disciplined.  Sounds like that might be justified.

Nope, just read all about it.  Case is still pending.  AG filed a brief recommending it be dropped, but he is not in charge.  Lots of people on each side of this one.

Any "make my day" law like CO's is inapplicable to the McCloskeys.  No one entered their dwelling.

Typo, yes the f/16. cool

"No if 300 angry folks are threatening me I am going to be in fear for my life"

You put your finger on the fact issue - were the 300 folks angry and threatening?  Were the McCloskey's reasonably in fear for their lives?  If the answer is yes, then I think the prosecution is unfounded.

Rich will hate this, but I don't think we have enough evidence to even guess whether the McCloskey's were reasonably in fear for their lives.   As Russ said, that is for the jury to decide after reviewing all of the evidence.

Here are some good ones to check out:

1. Outpost
2. Apocalypto (assuming you haven't seen it already)
3. Outlander ( fantasy drama series)
4. Did you ever watch Breaking Bad? I'm kind of tired of the anti-hero genre, but if you haven't seen it, it's quite good.
5. Unorthodox
6. Waco
7. The Hunters
8. Upload
9. The Man in the High Castle
10. Bosch (detective series)
11. Blinded by the light
12. Hamilton (on edit, forget it's on Disney+ now)
Outlander is on our list.  Loved Breaking Bad - actually watching "Better Call Saul" right now.  It is quite good.  Those writers are the best at morally ambiguous characters.  I also liked The man in the High Castle a lot.

Have you seen any of the three stand-alone seasons of Fargo (miniseries, not movie).  Very dark humor, graphic cold-blooded violence, but talk about your moral ambiguity and some superb acting.  Season one is incredible with Billy-Bob Thornton, Martin Freeman and others.  I could see how some folks would not like it at all, but if you are into dark humor I'd recommend it.  My wife and I can't get into an elevator anymore without one of us saying; "That's on you, Lester."  If you watch season one, you'll definitely know what I mean.

I've been there, had Buffalo, it was good but expensive.  Very cool ambiance.  They have Colorado Liquor License #1.  Don't know if they serve raccoon.

Hi Greg:

The article I read yesterday said the gate was open.  So there is an important fact and we don't know the actual answer yet.  Also, someone is saying "move along, move along" in the viral video.  Also, they were (according to the protesters anyway) heading to the governor's to protest.  That seems legit, and according to them, the crowd just happened to pass by the McCloskey's.

My point is not that the facts are known to be on one side or the other.  My point is that objective people simply don't know yet.  A sub-point is that biased left and biased right sources are crummy places to get facts because for every source you cite that backs up the McCloskeys, I can cite one that backs up the so-called "peaceful protesters"  And vice versa!  We could each build both sides of this case with internet sources that have 100% confidence in their own truth!

Heard of Helmut Norpoth?

Posted By James Brown

In fact it predicts a landslide of 362 to 176 electoral votes in Trump vs Biden.....
Hi Greg:

That EV total would shock me.  Do you have a link or a list of which blue states in 2016 this Norpoth projects will flip to Trump to give that electoral college margin?  I'll be stunned if Colorado flips to Trump and we must be one of the more likely states to flip.

I think that Trump is likely to lose, by losing some combination of MI, WI, PA, and FL.  He won all of these states in 2016 and some were real shockers.  All were very close.

If Trump wins, which I also think is quite possible, it will be because he held these Midwestern states and Florida.  I do not see him picking up the "close" 2016 blue states of MN, NH, ME and so on.

Apparently, the other time it was wrong was 1960.  http://primarymodel.com/

Also, this model is "unconditional and not subject to change."  It is a simple model that weights primary performance and the historical fact that the incumbent of 4 years is likely to win again.  Personally, I think that models based upon historical voter behavior are not that applicable to Trump.

Richard, your post and your position were entirely predictable.  You are one of the least objective people I've ever come across.  Your bubble is titanium clad.  Your sources are carefully self-curated.   I would not expect you to understand.

About your gun - it is perfectly legal for you to open carry in Colorado.  It is not legal for you to aim your weapon at a passer-by.  See CRS 18-12-106 and 18-3-206 and 18-9-106.  You know that if you are properly trained to get an open carry permit.  Self defense would be a solid legal defense to the above crimes.  But you would have to prove proper justification for self defense.   CRS 18-1-704.

The self defense statute turns on a few difficult fact questions.  The McCloskeys are facing these issues right now under what I suppose are similar MO statutes.  The prosecution and the attorneys for the defendants will put evidence in front of the jury.  The jury will decide.  The burden of proof favors the McCloskey's.  I will be somewhat surprised if they don't win.

You on the other hand accept your self-selected news sources as the sole and final truth and it's off to the races.  That's not how it works in the real world.
