Non smokers also subsidize smokers, healthy lifesyles subsidize non healthy, I like the credit, its closer to socialized and let the balance pay for thier lifestyle...... We pay more as GDP 15-16%, yet have a ton of people with little access, which we end up paying for somehow, higher bills because of critical care instead of preventative, or crime. Something has got to give, and it is.

Reviewed it and I thought he handled it well, particularly when asked to comment on a "private" conversation. It should be private. We survived 8 years with no brains and a childish temper, I'm sure we would do well with 4 years with directness! I probably will not vote for him :C because of immigration and Iraq, but I think you would rather have no one else at the trigger, you truly have to have been there to understand, and no one understands war and tragedy better than John McCain!

Cutting the Cost of Oil

The "present" cost being affected by seemingly small items is because of the narrow spread between supply and demand. Any perceived or actual interuption will send the price higher..... We should have taxed the heck out of oil years ago and put the revenue into R&D, as a byproduct, the economy would have necessarily gotton more efficient as well, the air would be a bit cleaner too. T. Boone Pickens and Ed Moreno and a lot of people knew this was comming. I personally don't care if gas goes to 5 or 6 bucks per gallon, then we'll see a lot more pain, and change we should have been working on for the last 30 years. Too bad no one bothered with a real energy policy since Carter!

the point is that the largely touted CPI isn't even in the ballpark. Thank you my 2005 Ford Freestyle gets 18 in town and 27 on the highway loaded with 5 of us. The point is, if CPI were a more accurate reflection, or not hailed as much as it is, perhpaps people would have been more willing to believe what their wallets were telling them and not what the CPI said, which has been that inflation has been benign. I certainly concur with the causes for inflation, CPI should just be more accurate.

Easy, the small electrics, just like the small cars do not have the same business model as the gas(not enough profit), also, not enough push until electricity if fully deregulated(not enough profit), in a word, greed! No it appears they may be a bit late. There are a ton of foreign hybrid and electrics here now and revving up more every day. :S

Hike rates?

We had better raise rates and soon. The lack of liquidity cannot be addressed by simply printing cash.....I'm thinking we need some rate hikes to insulate ourselves from a real crisis when the Chineese totally unpin the Huang from our buck. And its not like they couldn't use the bucks right now.......
