Trump calls for election to be delayed.

You might have to wait a few weeks Jim.  Before the BDS sets in for real, we will have weeks, maybe months of childish whining about the "illegitimacy" of the election because of mail in.  Everyone knows that mail-in equals D fraud right?  The whiner in chief is already whining about mail-in fraud 24/7, I presume to set up some sort of childish excuse for his defeat.

I agree with that leftist rag, the Wall Street Journal.  If this is Trump's issue, he ought to acknowledge defeat and drop out now.

Hi Darian,

I am trying to appreciate your position, but I'm really having a hard time.  Yes Trump will win Louisiana, and I don't doubt that most of your friends and relatives are going to vote for Trump even though I would also guess that most of you find him distasteful.  But Biden, Pelosi and crew are more distasteful.  I can appreciate that.  This is mostly why I voted for Trump the first time.  I despised HRC and her condescending BS that much.

Still, for Trump to win he has to repeat his implausible '96 win in Michigan, Wisconsin, Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania.  I haven't verified, but I think Trump can only lose one or maybe two of the smaller of those states and still eke out an electoral college win.  He has -0- margin for error.  Maybe the coronavirus is just a bad luck draw, but it is reality.  The economy sucks because of this.  How can you be confident that Trump will win given the truth that he has no margin for error and the economy is in the tank?

I think Trump might lose the election under these economic and social circumstances even if he was personally popular.  Since he is not popular, I would not touch Russ's bet with a six foot pole while wearing a mask.

James:

I agree, Richard's post was unhinged even for him.  Note how he jumped Dave's case for the 40 year error but artfully dodged his own 150 day error.  Pathetic.  At least three rantys!

Sad?  Teaching is a noble profession and Dave was probably a very good one.  I am sure he is proud of the many young lives he enhanced over his long career.

You want to know what is sad?  You allegedly have a bio-mechanical engineering degree.  But you apparently tossed that profession aside to sit in your mother's basement typing hostile screeds all day long.  That is what's sad.

My wife wife and I voted by absentee today for tomorrow’s Michigan primary. She dropped them off at the city clerk this morning.

We plan to get to get it in earlier for the November election. Not going to trust the US mail to get it there, the new Trump guy in charge is making cutbacks. Go figure.
Here in Colorado, the secretary of state's office sends a confirming email when your ballot has been received and accepted by mail.  It is a very user friendly system and no more susceptible to fraud than any other system.  As I've mentioned before, I like mail-in a lot.

Notable by his absence in the mail-in "debate" is Colorado's own Rich Davis.  I suspect that Rich likes his mail in ballot too!  But it would be tough to admit that publicly, as it would distance him from one of Trump's main campaign themes, and that could not be tolerated.

This is not an answer, it is a dodge.  I'll ask directly, do you like the Colorado mail-in ballot system?  As you probably recall, all elections have had mail-in since 2014.  I think that one can still vote in person if desired, but in 2018 95.3% of CO voters used the mail-in or drop-off options.  All of this with no significant fraud!  Trump is as dumb as you if he thinks this issue has legs.

Come on, be a man and admit that you mailed in your ballot or dropped it off and found it to be very convenient.

Which one do you support and why?
Nice dodge.  Jim was asking about mail-in voting.

Also, suspect and assume are not the same word and have quite different meanings.  Idiot.  I have basis for my suspicion of course.  Over 95% of Colorado voters utilized the mail-in or drop-off options in 2018.  Did you even vote?  Do you have the franchise?  Felons don't in Colorado.  Is that the issue?

I actually do suspect that you voted.  I suspect you mailed it in or dropped it off.  If I am correct, why is it so hard to admit?  Are you afraid that DJT reads these forums and will spank you?

Hi Russ:

I am pretty sure that I have never met a rational Coloradan who does not love our mail-in system and who does not consider it to be suitably safe.

That still leaves open the possibility that Rich hates it of course.

It is pretty darned funny that Rich won't break with Trump, even on this non-issue.

So, are you an anti-vaxer Richard?

How about that Colorado mail-in voting.  Are you a fan?

Since this is the 500th post in this thread, I thought I would celebrate by posting an interesting and somewhat grim graph.  Early on, you'll recall that Georgia and Colorado tracked pretty similarly in daily infection rate.  LA had a big outbreak, but seemed to have it under control as of April.   California and Texas had relatively little infection, certainly compared to NY.

Now, Louisiana has actually passed New York in infections/million.  Georgia is getting close.  Why is that?   Iagree with Rod and others, it must in part be from more general disdain for simple measures like masks and SD in some states.  Here in Colorado, mask wearing is now nearly 100% observed in the public places I have visited.  I see lots of masks on hiking trails and in the parks too.  We had a rebound in infections here after the economy started to open up.  Mask wearing and social distancing seem to be a small price to pay to assure that more generalized closures are not required again.
