Yes there are also comforts in this place too
the openings on the wall are for HV/AC. Though no thermastat on the third floor here. It is controlled by the second floor.

To the left is the doorway with the spiral staircase to get in and out of the observatory

You can see how close the scope in the park postion is to the roof when it is being rolled back. The indoor out door carpet is down and the platform too.

You can see the white light holders on the walls. These also have been painted the Dark dark blue. There are 6 of them around the room on two seperate switches. All have red lights.

newbie quistion

By chance do you have a book by Ron Wodaski The New CCD Astronomy, on imagaing? If not a really good book to get your started.

Dark frames are used to to subtract out the noise from the sub frames/ different temps and exposure times will exhibit different amounts of noise and in different places

Flats are used to subtract out dust, finger prints, anything that might be on the lens/filters/ or camera for that matter.

Dennis,

I shoot all of my Ha images when the Moon is present. Then I have allot of catching up to do on the color though when the Moon is gone.
Sometime I do not even do the color for the Ha depending on the image. Though if you play it right you can get 20 or so 15min images in Ha per night per object and get a really nice smooth image.

Great post and not sure how many realize that with a simple Ha imaging filter you can image any clear night if the Moon is up or not

Second you had stated he is close to Chiefland? are you in FL? Also Cubans? Maybe we can talk on the side???? I am serious about that one though.

I would though contact Herb about this if you have not already done so. Also I did not see or maybe I missed it what kind of funds did you send him? Maybe something is happening with him and he is not trying to rip you off just having a bad few weeks? Has he done many transactions on Amart and how is his past ratings? I would send him a certified letter to him asking for money or the scope, and if you have a laywer friend CC him/her in on it. Just might be the little jolt they need
