Are you conservatives against the government supplying seed money to grow alternate energies, that it was too much money or that it was given to some fly-by-night startups that were buddies of Obama?

What is the conservative view of alternate energy? Government investments?

Chris Matthews is an idiot and has a man-crush on Obama. You may certainly question the President. I remember that remark and thought it was condescending and not nice on a national stage. In the scheme of things, however, not that big of a deal.

It has become a political issue and each side can find the studies they need to refute or accept. The left sees it as justification for draconian measures to reduce carbon emmissions while the right sees it as a brake to economic recovery and growth and as a conspiracy perpetrated by the UN and supported in the US by NASA. wink

His blame on Obama re navy ships is off target and throwing numbers around like he does is a red herring. It's not the total number of ships but the kinds of ships we need to fight the kind of wars we are liable to get into. I don't want our military to be less effective or the budget cut unnecessarily but let the military bigwigs tell the government what they want and need. Romney is putting the cart before the horse in suggesting a massive defense increase since he isn't CIC yet and is not privy to the Pentagon inner circle. He is playing on our fears (of course many politicians do it). For all of his faults Obama has done reasonably well militarily for a uber-left wing-liberal and other than the Libya consulate screwup, Romney has not really hit home with his criticism of Obama.

A little bit too partisan. Romney didn't do as well because there were only a few points he could slam Obama on. The conservatives are trying to turn the Libya screwup into a Watergate = which it isn't. It was a mistake at levels where the president isn't involved and the cover up was a lie to save face. We remember Eisenhower's admin lying about U-2 missions and all of the president's lying about the Vietnam conflict. If the conservatives want to play hardball we can simply point to the Bush's administration's failure to prevent 9/11 even though there was info gathered by the Clinton administration about Al-Qada and bin Laden. Whose fault? Someone in the intelligence community but the buck stopped at Bush. Many of the conservatives have a holier-than-liberal attitude and a deep seated personal hatred for Obama that I find sad. Of course there are the staunch left wingers who blindly defend Obama in every thing and go down in flames fighting when objectively they are wrong.

I think your subject is not quite true. The quote from the article includes more than crude oil - other liquid hydrocarbons and biofuel. We are increasing our crude production due to the Bakken oil deposits. There seems to be large deposits of shale oil in the West but much of those lands are federal holdings and Obama has stymied production on federal lands and offshore. About 70% of crude oil is used to produce transportation fuels - gasoline, diesel and jet fuel. If we can increase use of biofuels and LNG (which we are awash in), we can reduce our imports of crude.

Not that anything will happen...

Why should it? No president has ever released his college transcripts or his passport application nor should they. It was bad enough that his birth certificate long form was released. Similarly, Romney should not have to release his tax forms even if it has become common practice to release two or more years.

Trump is a publicity seeking horse's ass.

Unless you are the Great Carnac, it ain't over till the fat lady sings. The polls, taken in their entirety, show it to be a statistical dead heat although Romney is gaining momemtum.
