Cheney Muzzled by the Court

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Mad dog Cheney, inventor and leader of the fourth branch of government, lost another round in court:
http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/20/cheney.lawsuit/index.html
His office is still maintaining the fiction that the office of vice president doesn't belong to the executive branch but to an in between branch that evidently wasn't discovered until Cheney took office. And deal in court is over records that are really public domain. It's about time Cheney got muzzled by the courts...

Alaskans PO'd at Palin

Posted By Rod Kaufman

It looks like Alaskans are sick and tired of having to be on hold with the McCain sleaze-machine in order to get a hold of their governor.

Fox News Interviews Palin/ Her Road...

Fox news, via Hannity, interviewed the minx. What a joke:

But her fellow Alaskans recall what she told them:

College Tuition and Illegal Immigrants

Posted By Rod Kaufman

At issue: should the children of illegal immigrants be entitled to in-state tuition rates while attending state universities and colleges while out of state US citizens don't?
A California appeals courts just said no:
http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/la-ed-tuition22-2008sep22,0,3326298.story
The LA Times thinks denying in-state tuition rates to the children of illegal immigrants is "immoral".
Since we live in a "global economy", I'm wondering what tuition rate my own kid might have to pay if I were an illegal immigrant in another country. I'm wondering how much "morality" is worth elsewhere in the world? (I already have a good idea of what I would have to pay if my daughter attended an out of state college or university in the United States but I'm only a American citizen and not an illegal immigrant...)

Kennedy: Palin a Product of Big Oil

While it's no wonder why Palen's handlers keep her under wraps, there's a striking similarity here with the secretive nature of Cheney and his closed doors energy policy meetings with big oil.

Close To A Deal, But...

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Well, it appears that the initial reports of a done deal were premature and it's not over until it's over. One culprit in the delay is the scenario, proposed by political pundits, that the Republicans are deliberately delaying the deal and creating more problems so John McCain can be the white night and appear to pull a rabbit out of the hat at the last moment and rescue the plan and therefore the nation from almost certain doom.
Sounds about right...

I think I'm where you guys were a few weeks ago when Palin was announced as McCain's VP choice and all (many) of your post seemed so gloomy with all the pro-McCain hype in the media. Unfortunately today I'm left here wondering why McCain might pull such a stunt; suspend his campaign, make profane announcements that he's got the nation's business to conduct, America first!, announce his hair is on fire...and go to Washington to be a fly on the wall in meetings? Ok buddy, you can do better than that....I think. It's one thing to pull what many perceive to be a political stunt, but to do it poorly? I'm one of those folks that would probably vote for McCain but wouldn't be totally disgruntled if Obama wins. I suspect there are many folks out there like me. He hasn't lost my vote yet but man is he working hard at it. There's plenty of time yet until the election so many boneheaded things are yet to happen; however, Obama may very well come out on top in this fiasco. Just makes the debates even more interesting I guess.

Purely commentary from my foxhole.

Mike
I was thinking essentially the same thing while watching him with the others at the White House. I've seen seventy-something year-olds at star parties at 3:00am who look more alive than he did. He looked like Bush's grandfather. What are we going to get when he nods off for extended periods during the next four years? Jugs?

McCain Takes Over Lead in Zogby Poll!

"Zogby: McCain Takes the Lead

Thursday, September 25, 2008

The very latest poll numbers from John Zogby put John McCain squarely ahead of Barack Obama at 46 percent to 44 percent, respectively.

McCain moved from three percentage points behind Obama to two points ahead of the democratic candidate in less than a week. One possible reason for the boost — McCain’s decision to forego politics as usual to focus on the current financial meltdown. The polling was conducted after McCain’s announcement that he was suspending his campaign.

Independent voters played a key role in the latest figures: McCain now leads with independents by nine points, 43 percent to 34 percent."

The polls will go back and forth between the two. Right now, the CNN's poll of polls on the more important electoral map vote shows:

McCain Lies to the Country

Posted By Rod Kaufman

McCain will show up at the debates even though a bailout deal hasn't been reached:
http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/26/debate.mississippi/index.html
Of course, his bull-speak was his presence was critical in resolving the economic disaster wrought on this country by his party but now he feels comfortable in participating because he's given his input. I'm sure we will all sleep better tonight knowing he's given his all and he's content with the progress!

Palin on the debate

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Palin summed it up like nobody but a valley girl can: McCain: "Awesome!" "Absolutely!" Fur sure, fur sure, valley girl:

Check out the comments that follow her nonsensical response on Pakistan, especially on the McCain/Palin debate on the latter, since they evidently can't keep their policies straight...
