Dave:

To the extent you believe that this "Bev" person accurately describes a majority of Trump's supporters' motivation, please be assured she is wrong.  Most Trump supporters, and I know lots of them, are simply Republicans who prefer R policies.   They hate Trump or love him, but they all prefer R policies.   The prospect of "hating liberals"  is not a motivation  for most.  Of course hatred of liberals is a motivation for a minority of the Trump coalition, they see this as a war.  You know at least one person in this camp on line, but he is hardly representative of the millions who will vote for Trump.

I would also add that "Bev" re-cycles a cherished canard of some fairly elite Ds in the press and in DC.  The canard that Trump supporters are all stereotype Ozark mountain hillbillies.  This conceit helped get Trump elected in the first place.  No doubt you recall Secretary Clinton's "basket of deplorables" comments?  That was a key turning point in Trump's election.

To you it is just blowing smoke, however they promise to

Repeal the filibuster.

Pack the Supreme Court

ADD 2 More states to the nation which will give Dems a 4 seat advantage in the Senate.

Remove the electoral college by hook or by crook.

The corruption of the Dems is wholly on display

While you sit idly by, naive, and implying that those who believe what they tell us is happening, is actually not happening, and that those of us who do follow the bouncing ball of the evidence are fringe right wingers..

You're free to bury your head in the sand, as you have regarding all the outrageous activity the left has engaged in throughout the past several years, which you tacitly endorse by your apathy and complete lack of concern, and indolence.

Luckily most thinking Republicans don't have this same apathy and lack of concern, and unawareness that you have regarding everything going on around them.

Have a great day!  smile
Why are you ignoring my post where I condemned those schemes?  In the real world the most effective thing I can do to prevent those schemes from coming to pass is supporting Cory Gardner.  I have done so.  Have you sent Gardner any money yet?  I suppose not because he is not extreme enough of a Republican to suit your purity test.  If Gardner loses to Hick, we are two votes closer to repealing the filibuster and packing the court.  Shame on you for sitting idly by.

I've also contributed to some people who were being charged by liberal DAs for defending themselves with weaponry.

How many of these people have you helped out via a Go Fund me Page?
"Really?  You claim I haven't supported Gardner Monetarily.  I have."  Good for you.  I'm glad to hear it.  Sorry my guess was wrong.

"I've also contributed to some people who were being charged by liberal DAs for defending themselves with weaponry.  How many of these people have you helped out via a Go Fund me Page?"  None.

FWIW, I don't send money to the RNC either.

Covid-19 data and graphs

We have a definite "back to school" bump in Covid 19 cases going on in Colorado.  On the plus side, fatalities are still down and the hospitalization rate is down.  This was predictable, but I think quite manageable.   Jim

Our spike seems to be centered on the CU Boulder campus.

He has stated that he needs a 9th judge of his choosing on the Supreme Court to ensure a contested election is adjudicated "fairly", having already stated it is unfair if he loses. He has had campaign lawyers approach the Republican heads of legislations in swing states to ask them to nullify their own states popular vote and declare him the winner in the electoral college should he lose their popular votes. None of this is at all inconsistent with his candidacy and presidency.

I will not honor my commitment to withhold campaign contributions to Democrats. 6 years ago, I sent a contribution to Cory Gardner. His failure to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States justifies my contribution to John Hickenlooper - for starters. I strongly disagree with many of the Democratic parties positions, but I agree on this: constitutional democracy matters and must continue.

Russ:

the Atlantic article is chaos porn for the true believers.  Both sides have threatened that a loss in 2020 spells the end of the nation.  Both sides are simply spinning up the base.  Both sides are full of it.  When Trump loses, he'll go loudly, but he'll go.

HI Russ:

Yes, I think Trump says whatever the hell pops into his head at that moment.  He'll back off his comments the next day.  Then he'll do it all again.  I do think that Trump would do whatever he can get away with in order to cling to power.  But, as I've posted a lot, I am a believer in the system, and there is not much he can do to beat the system.

I'm also a big believer in mail-in and drop-off voting.  It works great in Colorado.  I am dismayed however that many states are apparently going to count ballots postmarked by election day.  That is a really bad idea because it injects uncertainty into the process.  (The Atlantic article mentioned "blue creep,"  apparently the late ballots have historically trended D.)  OK, whether or not "blue creep" is a thing, it is possible, perhaps likely, that we are in for the mother of all recounts or late counts.

I would not expect either Trump or Biden to concede when the outcome is genuinely in doubt because of ballots not counted until a week after election day.  The rhetoric will be furious, and partisan to the point where Rich Davis looks like a well reasoned and moderate commentator.  I hope not, but if it is close and the swing states are counting lots of ballots after election day it could be ugly.

At the end of the day though, if Trump loses, he will leave.  You will see.

Why?  Trump's penchant of lying and exaggeration is epic and unparalleled.  I do not understand taking his every utterance seriously.   Not at all.
