Well it was high school, so there were lots of juveniles running around in the later 1970s looking for fights, just for fun.
And I guess I should have used a different word rather than "gang" as I did, because we didn't run around in gangs, we had "groups" of friends, usually 4 or 5 who hung out together.
The funny thing is, a great number of us still stay in contact.
I'm sorry that you haven't had many friends in your life. I can understand that though.
Just because you didn't have any friends back then, and ran away from all of your confrontations during your teen age years, doesn't mean that is the right move all the time.
If perhaps even one time, you stood up to those who bullied you in Jr. High and High School, maybe you would have more confidence.
I don't know the solution for your anger.
Hell, the first time I stepped in a martial arts dojo, I was about 7 years old. LOL
My mother worked at Miramar Naval Base, and the guy who trained the Special Forces was my very first Sensei, Hal Edwards.
He taught a hard art form, Goju Ryu.
We were always taught to run from a fight if we could but weren't taught to just run if someone attacked us.
I don't know many martial arts forms that do.
When I studied Tae Kwon Do along with hand to hand self-defense, we learned weapons.
In fact, I studied under this man here in Colorado Springs, darned near 2 decades ago now when I first stepped into his DoJang: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sang-chul_Lee_(taekwondo)
Time sure flies
