Astromart Dealer Designation?

Posted By David Landreth

What do you all think about Astomart designating that you are a dealer by the number of adds that you place? I, as of today have been designated a dealer because of my love for the hobby & wanting to try all the products that i can to see how well they perform! like, eyepieces, filters, telescopes & other without breaking the bank by buying & selling on astromart. If i am a dealer i guess i should be making a lot of money at this instead of spending a lot of money!!! Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Oberwerk 100mm Binocular Scope

Posted By David Landreth

I have had a pair of the oberwerk 100mm binocular telescope for around a week & really like them. I purchased the Universal Astronomics Unistar Mount & oberwerk heavy duty surveyor tripod & have a really nice setup, & also did not break the bank. The optics on the oberwerk are fantastic!
pinpoint stars across 90% of the entire field! T he supplied 10mm for 62x & the 24mm for 25x are large & quite good in my opinion, they are also almost parfocal, just a little turn to bring to focus. the optics seam to be multi coated as far as i can tell. The moon last night had a noticable color fringe but if i dont look for it i dont see it. The moon was awsome at 25x or at 62x, 3D like crystal clear! M42 wow!! is all i can say! Clusters are simply awsome!! This is the first pair of binos except for a pair of 50mm cheapies ive ever owned. Ive had 4", 5" 8", 10" 12.5" & 15" telescopes that i really loved to use, except for the bringing out of the house & setting up part, with the oberwerks i can set up in less than 4 minutes & be ready to rock & roll! even with their weight of 26 pounds they are absolutley no problem to carry out & set up. These are truley the grab & go type of astronomical instrument i was looking for. I bougt a pair of tv 15mm plossls for 40x & a pair of tv 32mm plossls for 19x they work great with the scope. The focuser dosnt use any set screw or compression type holders for the eyepieces, the eyepiece cavity is machined precise, to the specification of a 1 1/4" barrel so that the eyepieces stay put & are really easy to get in or out ( they will not attempt to slide out on their own ). the focusers feature non rotating helical focusers for both sides, they are incredibly smooth & reach perfect focus easily.
Just some of my experiences on my new toy that i wanted to share with others that might be interested or might be thinking about buying an oberwerk 100mm.

Larger Than 100MM Binoculars ?/ Please read!

Posted By David Landreth

Im looking for some reasonably priced 100mm + binoculars. Are there any out there that are of quality that you dont have to take a second mortgage loan out to help purchase them. I own a really nice pair of oberwerk 100mm bt,s with interchangable eyepieces, but as it always happens a little more aperature is desired. Any info on some 110mm, 120mm or whatever is out there would be greatly appreciated.
I dont really want to consider ones that have exit pupils of 5mm or larger.
thanks David L

100mm Oberwerks Bt

Posted By David Landreth

So far the only eyepieces that i have used are the provided 10mm & the 24.5mm eyepieces, to include 25x & 62x. On a really good night the 62x were awsome! But on most nights they were just mediocre. The tv plossls are the only others i have used so far & really didnt like the view. Ive talked to bigbinoculars & they say any vixen, tv, will work just fine as far as meade? i would think they would also work just fine. but this is only speculation on my part!
i wish the 14mm meade uwa would work, but the 2" x 1 1/4" barrel would cause problems. I also wear glasses & with the provided eyepieces are for the first time im satisfied with the view with glasses on. & ive owned a lot of scopes & never ever been satisfied with the view with glasses on untill the oberwerks were purchased!
hope you enjoy!!!

Takahashi 60mm Fluorite binoculars, Info!

Posted By David Landreth

I need some first hand experiences from people that have used the takahashie 60mm fluorites.
Are they really as sharp & contrasty as the reviews i have read? cloudy nights? & others?
Dose the 60mm aperature "seem" to be larger due to the fact of the really sharp optics as i have read? compared to lesser quality 70mm & some 80mm objectives?
Are the views really that good?
Are they really that good to warrant paying $ 1,100.00 for a pair, construction & optics wise. Ive read several articles on them & the people that have written the reviews really swear by them! Let me know! This seems to be a really good product!
Thanks David Landreth

New Oberwerk 100mm 45 degree model

Posted By David Landreth

Has anyone had anything to say about the performance of the new oberwerk 100mm 20x 40x 45 degree binoculars?
They look really nice. Dose it produce pinpoint stars do you see flaring on brighter stars?
The weight isnt to bad 16# compared to 26# for the other oberwerk 100mm,s. Im sure that there will be some color even though that really dosnt bother me if it is minimal.
If you have one of these let me know your experiences
thanks
