25" galaxy mirror on Astromart classifieds

Look at the "clam shell" fracture! 8O I know it doesn't enter the face of the mirror, but even so the figure has got to be shot. I attached a photo of a mirror with a similar type of fracture. Photo is from Torusmirrorgroup at Yahoo. James posted this image to show what happens to the figure after a large fracture (from shipping I believe).

Atik16 H-alpha image: IC 1318

I recently took the plunge into imaging. I've imaged a total of 8 sessions so far. Boy, this is addictive!

Here's one from last night: IC 1318 in H-alpha (4x600s + 1x900s). Atik 16 thru an Orion 120ST @ F4 on a Losmandy G8 manually guided with a Stellacam II Orion 80ED @ F15 (Basically cloned Jim Ferreira's rig). Imaged from central Austin, TX. Naked eye LM approx. 4.5.

Abell 2151

While I was waiting for another target to rise I looked up at Hercules and thought back to my first glimpse of an Abell Galaxy group through a big dob under dark skies. Here's about 30 minutes of data for Abell galaxy group 2151. Mostly 3 min subs taken with IDAS light pollution filter @ F4 thru a 120ST Achro manually guided with Stellacam II thru a 80ED @ F22.5. Stacked in nebulosity. This grouping lies outside the Virgo supercluster (500-700 million light years) Galaxies down to mag 17 are visible. The achromat gives fat stars if I'm not shooting H-alpha....but nonetheless I'm still having lots of fun.

The 120ST achro does better in H-alpha as you might expect. Here's a stack of about 10x5 min subs processed with Nebulosity. Manually guided with a Stellacam II.

10nm H-Alpha thru Orion ST120 @ F10 (2x powermate), stack of 10x5 min subs. Manually guided with Stellacam II thru 80ED guidescope, carried on a G11.

150 minutes of HA data (5 min subs) taken thru the venerable 8) Orion ST120 @ F4. Manually guided with Stellacam II thru Orion ED80 @ F15. Atik 16 monochrome camera. Mount is a G11.

Astroart 4.0 sigma combine with hot pixel removal. Black & white thresholds adjusted slightly. No darks used.

Here's my most recent effort. This is my first trip to relatively dark skies for imaging....previous dark sky adventures were for visual only. My 4 and 5 year olds had me pretty worn down by the time I was actually ready to capture data. Ovoid stars due to exhaustion and/or wind but nonetheless I'm excited about what dark skies allow.

Above average transparency but gusty winds with a cold front blowing in. (L+HA)RGB (20+12)10:10:10 minutes. Intes MN65 @ F5.5 ATIK16HR monochrome with manual filter wheel. Manually guided with Stellacam II. G11 mount.

A little off the beaten path. Tried to frame two subjects, but probably would have been better off just concentrating on 660. Image has noise/gradient? I need to get Photoshop and learn some processing techniques.
