Isn't it interesting how war decorum has changed?Posted By Anthony Morse |
Isn't it interesting how war decorum has changed? 'Twas once the honorable thing to line up opposite your opponent, in full view and daylight, on an agreed upon field of battle. Once there, in full, bright, shiny regalia the armies could duke it out. Granted, there were exceptions (generally successful, but exceptions nonetheless). Even through part of this century sniping was considered a cowardly way by which to wage war. And of course, the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor was..."dastardly" I believe.
Now, the objective is to strike without being seen...to literally sucker punch your opponent under cover of darkness. And those who once fought in a manner most despised (antecedents to our special forces/snipers) are now among the military and society's most revered.
