backpacking scope

Posted By Dom Guglielmo

After consideration and wanting aperture - I have my eye set on a celestron 102 wide field

anyone know how much it weighs?

heading down to NEAF to get a personal look and to see the wieght of a few - hopefully there will be some variety in small scopes down there...

Will bring a zoom ep and probably use a light weight photo tripod.

Remember when?

Wouldn't be able to tell the model - from the front view, but it's a 1950 hudson Pacemaker.

The pacemaker was the "economy" model, less features than the other models.

This beauty only has 64k original miles and is all original with exception to the paint! This color is a couple shades off from the original.

thanks,
Dom

John Dobson autographed Coulter 13

Posted By Dom Guglielmo

So, I am a "new" old astromart user - haven't used astromart for at least 12 years.  I am retired now and have collected more astro stuff than anyone needs. I am cleaning out of the stuff I don't use.  - after I get more ratings I'll ditch that line!

I do need to say - yes I am a fan = which may be rather obscure!

I have an old Coulter 13.1 red tube telescope that was used and signed by John Dobson at Stellafane and a Connecticut Star Party.

Its just sitting in the cellar for years now because I can't move it without help and my kids have no interest in it.

I do need to say I am attached to it, as I remember picking him up from the airport, going to for a bite to eat and driving him to his host's house before a Connecticut Star Party.  I can't remember though if he signed it before or after that because it was definately at Stellafane and I used to go to so many star parties.  I have very fond memories of him.  He used to visit ASNH often and even read his book at the Bethany, CT Yale observatory, which was so interesting.  He sure could talk and sometime get mad when you missed the obvious point he was trying to get across!

I'm not sure I want to get rid of it - but wanted to know if his use and autograph was worth anything.

Thanks,
Dom
