Wooden Tripod question

Posted By Lynn Kliewer

I was researching through this forum for infomation on making replacement tripod legs out of wood. I found an intersting string about this in January of 03 but noticed that Cherry wood was not mentioned. Does anybody know how it would work for tripod legs and or anything about it's ability to dampen vibration?

TheSky 6 opinions ?

Posted By Lynn Kliewer

Opinions requested--- I'm looking to get a software program that would have good sky charts with ancillary information and also will have the potential to run a telescope in the future but that aspect is not needed right now. Has anybody used the new software TheSky version 6 yet? How does it compare with Starry Night Pro 4.5?

C9.25 case

Posted By Lynn Kliewer

I had the same problem. I have a fork mounted C9.25 and I wanted a Pelican case very badly but I could not find one that would fit. I ended up getting a JMI case. I had to do some modifications to it with extra foam that I was able to purchase from JMI and a hot glue gun. It works great. Its extremely sturdy, fits in the trunk of my Honda Accord and the wheels are a blessing. By the time you get the scope in a large case like that it weighs quite a bit so I just roll it out to the car like a piece of luggage. It isn't cheap but I'm glad I've got it.

The more I think about this business the more rediculous it seems that people with great ratings are being kicked off of Astormart. Could there be a little more explanation of what problems this phone number thing is causing? Very few of us every use the phone for Astormart business in my experience. It's all done by email. Obviously folks that have good ratings are not a problem since their customers are happy. I have tried to steer most of my business toward Anacortes because I appreciate it's support of Astormart AND in my experience it is a good company to do business with. I am very frustrated about this.

Casady Dovetails

Andy-- Then it sounds like this type of dovetail saddle would be just as sturdy and stable as the original. Anybody else actually used these?
