My First M-51 in color

Posted By Florent POIGET

Hi Guys,

The weather is nice here.

I decided to use my ST-10XME in binning 1x1 for the first time with my Meade 12" UHTC OTA.

My target was M51. My 12" OTA was at f/6.9 with the Meade f/6.3 focal reducer. You could see in my picture coma and a few strange stars, I have again a lot of problems with the Meade reducer and too with my Bob's Knobs (I decided to remove them for the original Meade collimation screws, less problems apparently). I wait again my AP 0.67x CCD Telecompressor from my dealer.

My new ST-10XME image : M-101

Posted By Florent POIGET

Hi Guys,

After my M-51, this is my M-101 with the color version taken on 3 nights with 545 minutes of exposure (without the color exposures).

It is the first time I used my ST-10XME and my Meade 12" UHTC OTA at f/10 (3048mm).

I used the SBIG AO-7 to have a perfect guiding. For the color pictures the AO-7 has worked at 0.1Hz (an exposure of 8sec. for the CCD tracking). The PPEC of my Losmandy HGM TITAN mount was also disabled.
Even with 8 sec the selguiding was perfect.

The third night the seeing was horrible :S

M-27 : First test with my AP reducer and OIII

Posted By Florent POIGET

Hi all,

I received my Astro-Physics 0.67x CCD Telecompressor to replace my
Meade f/6.3 reducer not matched for my SBIG ST-10XME CCD chip.

I decided to test it on M-27 nebula.

I decided to test too my new CCD filter : an Astronomik 13nm OIII filter.

I realized several tests with my Astronomik 13nm Ha filter and the OIII.

My conclusion on the AP 0.67x CCD reducer : It works very well on my Meade 12" UHTC SCT OTA. The AP adapters for this reducer are very nice and very well made for the correct distance between the reducer and my ST-10XME CCD chip (not the case with the Meade f/6.3 reducer).

The stars in the field of view are really better that with the Meade reducer.

Not a great image but you can see my pleasant result on my website at :

http://www.astrosurf.com/ccdaltazao/immonth.html

I am very impatient to take a very long exposure with the RGB information.

If several amateurs were interested, I can confirm the AP 0.67x CCD reducer is better and It works with a Meade SCT.

Best Regards,

Florent

New CCD image : M-27 in OIII: (RGB)

Posted By Florent POIGET

Hi Guys,

After one month of short night and bad weather, With the Full Moon in the sky, I decided to take again the M-27 nebula with more exposure and the color information.

For the fisrt time I used for my luminance only my new Astronomik 13nm OIII CCD filter, and for the first time for the color the Astrodon RGB filters.

I don't know if the color is correct but I think it is good. Difficult to say with the OIII.

The Astro-Physics 0.67x CCD Telecompressor works GREAT on my Meade 12" UHTC SCT OTA. Better, really better that the Meade f/6.3 reducer.

My New CCD image : NGC6960 Veil Nebula

Posted By Florent POIGET

Hi Guys,

After an awful summer of clouds, the 2 first weeks of september were beautiful for imaging.

I decided to take the famous NGC6960 veil nebula. For the first time, I used my Astronomik Ha, OIII, SII CCD filters for my luminance. And the Astrondon RGB filters.

You can see 2 versions of my image. The second version, I replaced the Green layer by the OIII layer giving an interesting result.

My Leo triplet image : "Ultimate Version"

Posted By Florent POIGET

Hi Guys,

I wanted to post my image here to show the great possibility of a "simple" 4.3inch. APO refractor on a known object of our night sky.

My image represents 13hrs of total exposure for the luminance taken under the Full & Second Quarter of Moon.

My New Image : The Draco Triplet

Posted By Florent POIGET

Hi Guys,

After 3 nights, I just updated my website with my new CCD image. Another trio of galaxies but in the Draco.

I used my Meade 12" UHTC OTA at 1850mm to take them. The transparency & the seeing were not very good.

The total exposure for the luminance is of 7h50min.
