Seeing was only a tad better than it was Monday morning.

8" f5.9 Newt, TouCam 840 w/ 4x Powermate, UV/IR cut filter, 333/995 frames at 5 fps, 1/50th sec. K3CCD, WcCrtl, Registax and Photoshop CS.

Mars Saturday night

Haven't had much oportunity time or weather wise to get out to image Mars. This last Saturday night was clear but the seeing was below average.

Took one 120 second series, stacked 430 frames out of 1195, using 8" f5.9 Newtonian, TouCam 840, UV/IR cut filter, 4x Powermate bringing FL to f23.6. Captured using Registax 3, upsampled 1.5x, used wavelets and finished in Photoshop CS.

I noticed that the planet is starting to be a little less round and is that a volcano on the surface?

It's been awhile

Due to back problems I had to sell my 8" f6 Newt and opted for a much more compact and lighter scope to image the moon.

Here is my latest attempt from the morning of the 13th. Clavius and Morteus, 2 of my favorites.

Seeing was above average according to the local sky clock, nice change for sure.

8" Nexstar SCT @f16, Alt-Az mode, Toucam SPC 900NC camera,30 frames/sec, B&W Mode, 850/1680 frames stack in Registax, 8 point MAP processing (new to me still), finished in PS CS

Would sure like to get some processing pointers from this highly talented group.

Plato wide field

Been out of comission for awhile because of back problems. :S Been working with new scope, Nexstar 8iSE that is lightweight and quick to set up.

Here is a wide field of Plato and friends.

Alt-Az tracking, Toucam SPC900nc camera @10fps, w/IR-pass filter, 150/600 frames, Registax v3, 7 pt MAP processing, PSCS for curves and levels.

I plan to download Registax v4 this weekend when I have some time to play.

Aristotoles and Eudoxus this morning

Having the day off really helps motivate you to get out and image even though the forecast is for poor seeing and transparency.

Got out for an hour between 2:00 and 3:00 AM EST. The wind prevented me from getting any avi sequences longer than 35 seconds.

The image posted is taken with a Nexstar 8iSE @f16 in Alt-AZ mode, SPC900nc Toucam webcam, w/ IR-pass filter, 10fps, 100/350 frames stacked w/ Registax V3, 5pt MAP processing and finished in PSCS.

Another image from this mornings session, Somehow I was able to get a full minute worth of video in this session, the only one from the night.

Same setup as used in the Asistotoles and Eudoxus image except I was able to stack 200 out of 600 frames.

No pain no gain?

Came home last night after a shortened observing session at YFOS (club observingsite) and after a few hours sleep, got up to imageed the moon again.

While taking out my equipment my back went into spasm and I thought I was going to have to call it a night.

Went out anyway and after fighting off some clouds I got a few AVI sessions in.

Here is Clavius and Blancanus with my usual arsenal of tools except scale is increased by shooting at f20 and stacking 250/600 frames.

I will experiment when there is more time and see if using fewer frames sharpens thing up any. Gotta get busy around the house before I get in trouble.

Sorry to post this to this group but I noticed there are several DMK owners and I am thinking about upgrading my camera.

What capture and camera control software do you use with the DMK camera?

From the evening or 11-10-06, seeing 2-3/5 mostly 2, transparency 4/5.

150/600 frames, Registax v3, 7 pt MAP processing w/wavelets, PSCS curves and levels

Nexstar 8iSE, Alt-Az @ f15, Toucam SPC900nc @10fps, w/ IR-pass fltr.

Didn't get a good focus but the scarp had some nice shadows and good relief.

First attempt at trying I-Merge. I like having more control using Photoshop but I like the simplicity of using IMerge. Desisions...decisions???

Two AVI images combined. Imaged using Nexstar 8iSE in Alt-Az mode, Toucam SPC900nc camera @f15, IR-pass filter, 200/600 frames stacked using Registax v3, finished in PSCS after merged with IMerge.

Yes I am still using Registax v3. I have played with v4 but with this image I preferred the results I got with v3.
