Isn't that a *good* thing??

All that gets to the 'film' plane should be RED light, so in a perfect world, you should not have a green or blue image at all, unless I'm missing something.

Anyone using an internal etalon?

Posted By Malc Shedden

Was using a TV102 with my 90mm AS-1 filter, but moved to a Sky 90 'cos I couldn't reach the t-max tuner while viewing(!). Coronado offer an internal 40mm etalon module for this scope to give < 0.5a bandpass - is there anyone out there who can comment on the performace of this combo?

What mount is this?

Posted By Malc Shedden

I was looking for a reasonable EQ mount for my daughter's 90mm Orion refractor, and came across this on that auction site for $230 shipped. They call it a 'CG-5' *type* mount, mfr 'Twinstar' - so question is: is it a CG-5 or ???. Has dual axis (AA battery drives, polar scope etc. Almost looks too good for the $$$.

This is the only pic, so sleuth away!

All input appreciated!

Resolving power - terrestrial / target shooting

Posted By Malc Shedden

Recently my brother asked me what kind of scope he could get to resolve 0.30 inch bullet holes in paper targets at 500 yards. He mentioned some 20-60x 80mm ED spotter, but I have serious doubts about that.

Anybody have an opinion on this? Is it even possible?

Would a 100-120mm refractor at f8-f10 be capable, or maybe a 5" Mak?

Thanks for any ideas

Thousand Oaks Type 2 filter

Get a Baader Astrosolar fim filter instead, the views you get with the film are far superior to glass filters IMHO.

You can get the film on its own from Astro-Physics (and make your own cell), or Kendrick sells off axis filters made with the film (and the film itself).

The film is available in Visual and Photo only grades.

(You can find the ADVANCED SEARCH link on the menu on the left of this page) <---- over there!!

Good luck,

Purchacing a telescope

While the C9.25 is great (I have one) I don't think the CG-5 mount will be up to astrophotography, however you could upgrade to a better mount later if you *really* want to get into astrophotography.
