constitution or leader

Posted By Andrew Amundrud

Does the constitution dictate the right or wrong actions of a nation, or does the leader of the nation. I'm sure it is a combination of both plus a host of other factors. Could a dictatorship be well run and just for all under a good leader?

Out of interest and perhaps along a more scientific approach to the question, we could look at real world leaders and their contributions to the world and compare those with their religious/non-religious background as well as the form of government that they operated under.

I will organize the results into a table. Any leader whose religious/non-religious beliefs are in question will be excluded.

Dual Axis Equatorial Platform

Posted By Andrew Amundrud

Hi,

I'm interested in building a dual axis equatorial platform for astro-imaging but I'm not sure what is involved. I believe I understand the theory behind a single axis aligned with the north star and right ascension drive. Why is a single drive not enough? I'm relatively new to astronomy and entirely new to tracking.

Thanks in advance,

Andy

moon mosaik

Hi all,

Here is a moon image from this morning stacked and stitched. The image is reduced about 20% (makes things look a bit sharper).

114 mm newt on weird dob/tripod setup (for added vibration)
IBM PC PRO webcam

enjoy,

CG4 motors, what kind?

Posted By Andrew Amundrud

Hi all,

I have a CG4 mount and I want to get motor drives for it. Can anyone point me to the appropriate drive system for this style of mount. If you know of any good dealers that would be appreciated.

Thankyou,

Andy

a trip to Mars for the budget-minded

Posted By Andrew Amundrud

This is our first time imaging mars (Dave,Irvin and me) and we were all well pleased with the first attempt.

The rain stopped and the clouds broke enough to afford our kind souls a view of the red planet.

5 hours and many cups of tea later we had 100 video clips and many nice views. We could have kept going but we were quite literaly falling out of our chairs by 2 am.

The equatorial platform is still in the process of being built so we relied on patience and steady hands (the old stand-byes).

We all enjoy the amazing pics and posts on Astromart.

Sincerely,
Andrew

Mars with 4.5

Posted By Andrew Amundrud

Hi all,

Here is an idea of what you can get with a smaller scope.

I'm not sure what the seeing was tonight. Managed to get a clip between showers.

Notice the small white spot just up and to the left of the large cloud at the bottom. I've seen it on some of the Hubble-type Mars images that have been posted so I know it's not just a processing artifact. I think.

Clear Skies,

Andrew

Same old faces.

Posted By Andrew Amundrud

Hi all,

Just thought I would check back and see how everyone was doing in the forum. It looks like the question hasn't been resolved while I was away. How comforting to know that I haven't missed out on anything ground-breaking.

Here, I'll make this qualify as a religious post now. It’s time to start quoting some scripture. No, I'm only joking, let me paraphrase.

Assumption: Everyone has a soul.
Assumption: The soul exists in a separate but parallel dimension.

The soul of someone who doesn’t believe they have a soul will become neglected.

The soul of someone who is aware of a dimension outside of the typical 4 (or whatever the physical number is) in which the spirits reside will chose to enter the spiritual dimension with their own soul to explore (or be content to know of its existence but not pursue it any further).

From this experience come a plethora of religions and other such nonsense.

Corinthians 1:18 "For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness, but unto us which are saved it is the power of God."

Ha, I managed to slip one in there. I guess I lied. Perish is such a harsh term. I prefer hell-fire enabled (not seriously).

Question: With elevinty billion different flavors how can I know which is the right one?

Luke 11:11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?

Don’t worry; I’ve been on this forum before. First of all, I shouldn’t be quoting scripture when I said that I wouldn’t. Secondly, how can I answer the question of “which is the right one” by quoting a scripture from my own? That’s called circular reasoning, and it doesn’t prove anything.

Assumption: If you look (ask) for something good you aren’t going to find (receive) something bad.

That's all I've got for now. I know, you were probably waiting for me to get back with all the answers smile . Sorry.

Peace in Christ Jesus (from where I'm sitting),

Andrew

Creation Sunday.

Posted By Andrew Amundrud

Hi all,

Looks like business as usual on the religion forum.

My church is holding a special service on creation, and I have been asked to work in some creative capacity to develop some background images and videos for the service.

The images/video will be displayed behind worship leaders as a background to "set the scene".

I've talked with the pastor, and by "creation" he means anything in nature which displays the glory of The Creator. He is leaving it up to me to put something together which is tasteful and flows with that theme.

I know that different people see God in creation from many different angles, and I was hoping to see a few more by "putting it out there" on this forum.

I'm looking for scripture that deals specifically with creation and ideas for images and video. Any other helpful suggestion is also appreciated.

Thank You,

Andrew
