No dark substraction or flat field is made yet.

M45 is a popular topic and I tried this again on 08-10-2004 at Sai Kung, Hong Kong.

9 stacked images of 8 min each at ISO 800, taken by Borg 76mm + 0.85x reducer and 300D, webcam autoguide by Guidedog with 80mm F5 refractor, all on EM200.

This time dark substraction has been done but not for flat field. Adjusted in PS.

E200 Horsehead + Flame Nebula

Dear all,

Horsehead with Flame Nebula on 18-11-2004 at East Dam, Sai Kung,Hong Kong
taken jointly by Petming and me using Borg 76ED + 0.85x reducer with
E200 film on EM 200 mount with guidedog webcam autoguide using ST80-
400 guidescope.

The sky's transparency was slightly higher at 6/10 while seeing was
about 5/10. This is the best place for astrophotography in Hong Kong but it was very windy all night.

Single image of 45 minutes on 18-11-2004 around UT17.00 :

E200 California Nebula

Dear all,

This is a single 45 minutes image by Petming and me jointly at East Dam, Sai Kung, Hong Kong on 18-11-2004, taken by Borg 76ED + 0.85x reducer + E200 film, with webcam autoguide by ST80-400 guidescope on EM200.

The webcam autoguide tracking was not good, partly probably due to slippage of the screws on the aluminium board; and partly probably due to the very strong wind that night.

E200 North Amercia + 1/3 Pelican Nebula

Dear all,

Single image of 30 min North America (main target) + 1/3 Pelican Nebula, taken by Leica M280mm lens at F5.6, on EM200 mount with webcam autoguide by 50mm finder (183mm focal length), at East Dam, Sai Kung, Hong Kong on 13-07-2004.

Focus is a bit soft due to very dim viewfinder in Ricoh camera body (20 years old).

Transparency : about 7/10
Stability : about 7/10
Wind : mild
Light pollution : some squid boats there with strong flood lights.
(one of the very good clear summer nights, if not light pollutted by squid boats).

Change hand user of FeatherTouch Focuser

Dear all,

I have just purchased the Starlight FeatherTouch Focuser for Dob use and love its smooth motion and fiction control.

I note that the Focuser's pinion housing can be reversed to allow switching between left and right hand user. However, there is no illustrated diagram/image accompanying the simple 1 page manual descrption.

Has anyone tried reversing the pinion housing for FeatherTouch ? How to do it ?

Illustrations with photos/images will be greatly appreciated.

Adapting FeatherTouch Focuser to Orion 80ED

Dear all,

After using FeatherTouch Focuser (with flat base) in 12.5-inch dob, I very much like the smooth operation of FeatherTouch Focuser.

I am waiting for my Orion 80ED for astrophotography and I shall consider ways to adapt the FeatherTouch Focuser into Orion 80ED OTA end.

Does anyone have any suggestions how the FeatherTouch Focuser can be adapted to work with Orion 80ED ?

Tightening EM200 Dec Clutch

Dear all,

I have an EM200 for a year but note that the Dec clutch is not
tightened enough, such that even if the Dec is apparently balanced and the Dec clutch tightened by my thumb, the stars still drift along the Dec axis.

I later try to re-tighten the thought-to-be already tightened Dec clutch a bit and am surprised to find that it could still be slightly moved further. However, while the stars' drift problem
lessens a bit, I can still notice slight stars' Dec drift, about
several arc seconds away per second.

How can I make sure that the Dec axis will not move after I tighten
the Dec clutch ?
