Hello,
This is my best Mars so far! This is really getting fun! I still need to work on my processing though. I just picked us a "new to me" C9.25 to compliment my AP130 and this is the first light :-) Thanks for all of the great posts and help going on in this group!!!

Hello,
I am trying to open an .avi file in Registax but I get the following error message "Failed to decompress AVI file" then an access violation. This file plays fine with Windows Media Player. Tried it with both the old an new versions with the same result. Any ideas?

A break from Mars, M33

I thought I could use a break trying my hand at Mars and did some deep sky imaging. Since M33 happened to be up I figured I'd give it a shoot :-)

Cygus - Finally a good one :-)

Hello,
I have been trying my hand at film astrophotography for 3 years now and have finally taken a pretty good shot :-)
This is a single shot of Cygus showing quite a few NGC's. I used a Nikon 50mm lens @ f2.8 for 45min with E200 slide film. It was taken at our clubs site just below Mt Pinos in Southern California. Thanks for looking!

I happened to be up late last night (with my 20 month old) so I started this 120 minute LRGB image of M31 with my AP130 @ f4.5 (f6 plus AP .75 reducer). Seeing was very good :-)

Hello,
Here is an image of me waiting for a long night of film and ccd imaging. My current, barely portable, setup is a Tak EM200 mount, AP 130 f6 scope, Nikon F2 camera piggy-backed, ST7E CCD camera and IBM Thinkpad. The dark site I frequent is in the Lockwood Valley just below Mt Pinos in Southern California.

AP130 F3.6, SBIG 7E and Tak EM200 mount.
120min combined Ha x 30min, Lx30, Rx15, Gx15, Bx15

ST-8XE or New ST-2000XM?

Hello,
I am about to upgrade my ST7e to either the ST-8XE or ST-2000XM. If I was to break out in percentages the types of imaging I do I'd say that it would be 30% wide field at around f4 AP130, 25% at around f6 AP130, 25% using my C9.25 (either at f6.3 or f10) and 20% with a very short small refractor at say 300mm (like my Tak 60c). I'd say 40% of my imaging is done using H-alpha filtering. Because of the latest upgrades to the ST-2000XM, I am finding it hard to not purchase it over the ST-8XE, especially given the $2500 price difference! Any help is GREATLY appreciated!!!
