Anyone used an HEQ5?

Posted By Garry Buck

I agree, it's ok for visual, but when trying to do CCD photography at high magnification, the periodic error drives me crazy. If I had it to do over again, I'd spring for a Losmandy.

Jupiter 01/24/04...4 hrs later it's raining!!

Very nice. You're in the Tucson area, right? So am I. This cloudy weather has been getting me down, I'm not quite dedicated enough to stay up 'til 4am .

Question, when is the ideal "astronomy season" in Tucson? I got into astronomy last July, in response to the Mars madness. My timing was wonderful, I got my scope, and the next day the monsoons roll in for 3 months!! Fall was fairly decent. What can we expect in th Spring?

Wireless Remote setup help:-)

Posted By Garry Buck

Chris,

I'm running a similar setup with Linksys G, and it doesn't "feel" much different than being directly connected. I'm very happy with it.

Someone in Arizona

I'm the guilty party. I got a STI stiletto focuser awhile back to help with my planetary photography. The weather turned to crap about 5 minutes after the UPS truck left!

Oh well, it should clear up just in time for monsoon season. sheesh........

Canon 18x50 Image Stabilizer Binoculars?

Posted By Garry Buck

I've got 'em, I like 'em! I'm a beginner, so I don't have much basis for comparison. I have shaky hands, so the IS is wonderful. Without it, I'd need a tripod.

People often talk about their grab-'n-go scope. I guess that's what these are for me.

Remote Shutter Release

Posted By Garry Buck

The Fuji S7000 accepts an old fashioned screw-in shutter release.

I was looking at this camera and the Minolta DiMage Z2. I went with the Minolta. It's cheaper, and the self timer works fine for me. FWIW, it is the only camera I've found that does 800x600 video.

Question about MN66 focuser

Posted By Garry Buck

I recently replaced the stock focuser on my MK67 with a Clement. (Smartest thing I ever did.) Mine is held on with 3 hex screws. I just miked the wrench and it's 0.08" across the flat sides. I can only assume that yours is the same.
