The "Best" eyepiece

Posted By john shea

What is the "best" size eyepiece to observe places like the Andromeda Galaxy? I have a Meade 10" f4.5 and am not very knowledgeble when it comes to using the correct eyepiece. Someone told me a 2" 31 degree radian would be ideal. If this is so please explain.
Thanks.

Source for telescope tubes?

Posted By john shea

I have a Meade 10" starfinder and the tube is made out of that cardboard stuff they use for cement pouring. I was thinking of replacing the tube but am not sure what type of material would be acceptable. What is a lite material? What material would disipate the heat? And what other factors should be considered? What are the major companies who manufacture these products?
Thanks/

Where do I put the finder scope?"

Posted By john shea

On my 10" reflector I would like to know where certain accessories go on the tube. I have the telrad and a Right-Angle Correct Image Finder Scope. Where do both of these mount on the tube in relation to the focuser?

Where are the reviews?

Posted By john shea

There is not much on this website of product reviews. If I want to see a product review of lets say a Burgess 26mm SuperWide what website has reviews like that?

Just what the subject matter is? Which is more practical and convenient to use, a laser Collimator or Set of three Tectrons for a 10" f4.5 reflector?

Which scope is "better"

Posted By john shea

Which is the better scope and for what reasons. I am never going to do photography. I presently have a meade 10" f4.5 reflector and was thinking maybe I would do better with a meade 10" schmidt-cassegrain. What are the pros and cons for each of these scopes?

Thanks.

Telrad bad experience

Posted By john shea

I have only used my telrad for a dozen times. Last night the telrad would not stay positioned in the telrad base. It would move around even when tightened with the set screws. Taking the telrad out and examining the tabs which the screws exert pressure on they were damaged by the screws. This being plastic it surely was going to happen at some point but I did not expect it this soon. It looks like a bad engineering. Has anyone experienced this problem? So disgusted that I am thinking of going with an Orion EZ Finder and was also wondering what others think of this gadget.

Telrad Dew Accessory

How does this dew contraption work on the telrad? I cannot see anything and dew still fogs up my telrad window.
