Cocoon Nebula

nice photo! On a recent dark-sky trip I tried to view this, the dark Cocoon stood out, it was just as visible as in the image. The nebula itself was barely apparent though, just the slightest hint of nebulosity visible, it's a difficult visual object.

same here - I've tried to respond to a "for sale" advertisement for the last 2 days and the web site gives me a message "there was a problem responding to this ad".

Beautiful setup!  I wish there were some Astro-Physics quality-level mounts out there with a more simple design and no GOTO or slewing motors. For those of us that don't want or need them.   The simple clamp handles on my old 600 mount were easy to use and great for people with arthritis too.

For that matter it'd be nice if there were more quality EQ mounts under 30 pounds.  From what I heard even Losmandy will soon be compulsory goto & slewing on their mounts as well.

wow...you're making me wish I'd braved the mosquitoes!  Maybe the 70-degree turn was 2 meteors appearing at once?  Or maybe these were just larger meteors breaking into smaller chunks?

Jakarta Indonesia?  That's halfway around the world - bogus!  There is no need to buy internationally on this.  The pipe-frame telescopes are truss-trube Newtonians, they won't be good for terrestrial photography. 

Do you really need a large Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope for this?  Most people would use a large telephoto camera lens, or an astronomy refractor for daytime photography.  A refractor is a simple design telescope with one big lens at the front of the tube and a focuser at the back.  It's most similar to a telephoto lens.  You can browse these scopes at buytelescopes.com or another vendor like astronomics.com.   I'm thinking an 80mm or 100mm refractor would be good for this.

nice picture Keith!  Just out of curiosity, what features comprise the "Rille complex"?  Is it the big valley on the bottom or the smaller threaded complex next to the big crater?
