Where to buy used equipment

Posted By Robert Fiedler

Thank you to each of you who responded to my request concerning buying and selling used astronomical equipment. I have always been happy with what I've gotten on Astromart, and Cloudy Nights as well. Craigslist scares me a bit because of all the news about them but I did sell there on one occasion. I asked for other places to buy because I'm not finding the Celestron Ultima eyepieces that I put in an ad for. Just can't be in a hurry I guess!

Where are the female amateur astronomers?

Posted By Robert Fiedler

I became more active here on Astromart this past summer and I was made aware that every time I bought, sold, or threaded, it was an interaction with a male of our species.
I am not looking for an intimate relationship and am not using Astromart as a dating service (I have a partner!) but it is striking to me that not once can I remember interacting with a female while buying or selling or talking about astronomy on Astromart.
I wish females would speak up, and share their insights into this incredible hobby. I know you must be out there, fascinated by what is swirling around us here on Earth, owning and using telescopes and attending star parties and buying and selling astronomical equipment.
Ladies, where are you? Please make yourselves known.

Advice for buying an expensive equiment (few thousand dollars) on Astro mart

Posted By Robert Fiedler

I've been burned a few times with even inexpensive items on Astromart, and not always by newbies. I wish it were different of course. But yes, once $100 and more, being careful by dealing only with a seller who has been a member with a clean record becomes vital.

Astroscan window

Posted By Robert Fiedler

I have a Edmund Astroscan with a foggy and very scratched window (the secondary and the window are ONE).
Anyone know how to remove the window? I want to find another Astroscan with a window in good condition and replace the damaged one.

Thank you.

Unistellar

Posted By Robert Fiedler

Has anyone checked out the new Unistellar? Says it "accumulates" light. Digitally piles on the photons until the object shows as if you are looking through a one meter scope. Price about $2000, I believe from France.
Sounds terrific but I don't want to jump for it until I hear if it's indeed legitimate.
