Has anyone heard about or bought from Scopetronix lately? I know they were experiencing trouble. I need a visual back for my ETX-125 and they have one but I'm not sure about the company. Shutan has one but they're trying to find someone to manufacture it and I'm tired of waiting for them. Thanks,

Waiting for the next Saturn opposition, I decide to process images from the the past three oppositions and combine them. The following montage shows the changing aspects of the rings. The first image was taken in February 2005, the second in December 2005 and the third in December 2006. All were taken with my C11 and a 2X Barlow with my Pro ToUcam II. Can't wait to add a fourth early next year.

Comet Holmes - D200 & Six inch refractorPosted By Steve Thornton |
Here's a shot of Comet Holmes last night at a dark sky spot using a D200 and my 17-year-old AP six-inch Starfire refractor. I shot ten 30-second exposures, stacked them in Registax. The system gave a perfect image size for the comet.

I was finally able to get to a dark sky site last night and was able to get some good images of Comet Holmes. This was shot using a Nikon D200 with my 17-year-old AP 6-inch Starfie refractor. I took 10 30-second exposures and stacked them in Registax with a little processing through Photoshop. This set-up is perfect for a good image scale of the comet. I can count at least 15 stars that can be seen through the larger gas envelope.

Here's a frame from an AVI set I imaged of the moon a week ago. It's of an object that passed across the moon. My best guess is that it's either a weather balloon or a satellite. On the original video, it's definitely circular in shape.
The photo is one frame of the video. It lasted a couple seconds on the video, which I imaged using a six-inch f/9 Starfire AP refractor at prime focus using my DMK camera at 30 fps.
My son, who is far more adept at the technology than I am, put the video sequence on his YouTube site. Just go to www. youtube.com/shoteye and click on the moon video. Very interesting sequence.

I imaged this white spot on Saturn Sunday morning. It's on the second cloud band from the top, off to the left. I used my C11 with a 2X teleconverter and a Pro ToUcam II. I stacked approximately 360 frames out of 2100. I'd say the seeing was 8/10 with 50% humidity. Best seeing I've had in a long time.
