I'd LOVE to see a quality image intensifying eyepiece that was affordable ($500.00 to $1000.00). None of us would need giant scopes! Or maybe an image intensifier that could be threaded onto an SCT so it could also be used with binoviewers! Am I asking for too much? Maybe 10 years from now....... 8)

Here's a suggestion: Sell the 10" Meade and buy an I-cubed image intensifying eyepiece to use on your Mak.

Jeff, I don't own one but from what i've heard the 9.25 is about as sharp and contrasty as you are going to get on any compound scope of this size. Cloudy nights has a review between the 9.25 and th 7" meade Mak and the 9.25 won hands down so an etx isn't going to beat what you have. a 4" APO refractor may and you might be able to get a used one for the price, but a goto mount will be extra. I had a Nexstar 5 and sold it, bought a Stellarvue 4" APO and a celestron CG5 goto mount. The views are great but i'll tell you what - I miss the portability of the nexstar compared with the APO on the cg mount. I could literally set the nexstar up in 5 minutes and the convenience of an alt-azimuth mount over an EQ mount makes a big difference if you just want a quick look. Just my 2 cents.

I also have a SV102V 7.9 f/l. And I can see nebulosity in M42 at 30X in my front yard looking over streetlights at morning twilight with no nebula filter. Fogged up optics? Maybe.

Just my two cents, but maybe a C5 will better suit your needs, although it won't be as good visually, with a focal reducer it will give you a 787.5mm focal length and make imaging easier. But I agree with the others here - the mount is what is most important.

I'm amazed that the 16" R.C. is the same price as the 16" LX200!

Not really a steep price to pay for what you get. Selling on e-bay costs a lot more. I support astromart pretty much continuously since i use it often and i feel i get my money's worth.

I do get tired of the "complaining" ads about non-support, though. Either charge members and get it over with or shut up about it is my thought.

It's also free advertising for a certain telescope vendor which will remain nameless. Sometimes i think that is not realized.
