Anyone have any experince with the Epson V700? I have read good things about it, and am thinking about upgrading my scanner.
Current scanner: Microtek ScanMaker 5900. Not real happy with the way I have to deal with uncut strips of negatives/slides.

Any comments?

Some decade+ old Comet shots finally see the light of day.

Hale-Bopp:





I quite like how passing traffic lit up the corn stubble in the field for the foreground of the photo.

And not to mention Hyakutake:


1st Hale-Bopp & Hyakutake were shot with a Rolliflex TLR, with 75mm f/2.8 lens, on 120 Color Print Film.

The other 2 were shot with a Minolta SRT 202 & 50mm f/1.4 lens, on 35mm color print film.

Scanned with my new Epson V700 scanner. Fiddled with in Paint Shop Pro 8.

Lots of good thoughts here, guys - thanks a bunch!

So my current dilemma looks to be - $1500 for the Canon D20 (20D?) that I want.....or similar $$$ for a decent Losmandy mount.

Hmmmm...what to do first.....???

Which camera-store clerks were you asking? I wouldn't expect the run-of-the-mill idiots at the local strip-mall joint to know anything. *Lol*

Make a run downtown & ask the guys at Roberts - the Pro camera store. Or the guys at FireHouse - the Pro photo-lab. Those are about the only folks here in Indy I would expect to really, truly, know anything.

2nd pic - this one with my jury-rigged "adaptor", still through the 17mm eyepiece.
I don't think I had it aligned quite straight.

ok - Now for a good laugh for everyone - here is your intrepid tinkerer,
trying to adapt his eq head to a makeshift "pier"

Once upon a time, this was the post for a basketball hoop. (Hey - after all, this
IS Indiana! *Lol* )

Tapping some holes for bolts to hold the head in place.

with scope attached.

North East corner of Indy - and no, it doesn't get very dark at all around here.
sad I'd estimate my naked eye limiting magnatude at about 3.5. yuk.

And don't ya just love my "polar alignment scope"? 8) I'd have to say at the
moment that my polar alignment is pretty much a rough guess.

I'll get there. More playing, more fiddling.

Anybody got a Losmandy G-11 they want to donate to the cause? *smirk*

Secondly - here's the head mounted on the pier - polar alignment is "rough" at best.
8" Hardin newt stuck on top of it. Oh, and my smiling self, naturally.
