Hi,

Does anyone out there have any opinions, thoughts, even un-informed speculations* about the Vixen Sphinx mount?
Does anyone have any idea if this a quiet or noisy mount, compared to others out there?

Nikon zooms--converting to 1.25"

Can anybody inform me about the issues with converting a Nikon spotting zoom eyepiece to a 1.25" telescope standard. I've a few for sale here on the classified (missed one yesterday, drat!).

Irony in action...

I saw a report on cable news yesterday that made me laugh out loud.

Castro's government is showing Farhenheit 911 all over Cuba. The report stated by showing snips of Cubans coming out of the theater, stating negative opinions of our President Bush. Which of course was Castro's goal...

...then, they had several clips of Cubans who essentialy were stating that another 'message' of the movie is that America is free--free enough to allow such a movie to be made. A Cuban film maker trying to make a movie critical of Castro would end up in jail!

LOL!

PS. The Cuban government is using counterfeit copies of Mr. Moore's film; he isn't maiking anything on their showing it. Maybe he could sue in the Hague....

TNT From Earth to Moon

Anyone else seen any of this? Worth it. I lived through it all, although paid scant attention after around 1996-7. As a boy we did get up to see launches and unmannded moon missions.
Does anyone know if any ground crew were injured and how bad in the Apollo 1 fire? It seemed to show some injured in the blow out from the fire.

Also, it was very dramatic when Niel Armstrong in Gemini had a spinning spacecraft.

Finally, always fun to see this: stars coming through the dark side of the crescent earth. Matte, guys, matte.

8) In case you missed it, someone posted a pic in the Classifieds of a post of scan he took direct with a dish antenna the Titan probe. It was gone in minutes! Obviously a conspiracy to prevent us from learning the truth!

Can you retrofit a Meade wedge w/AZ vernier adj?

I have you standard meade wedge, and want to know if "an Az vernier adjust can be retrofitted to this mount." Someone interested in buying it (a fellow Astromarter) wants to know.

I would add, can it be done with nuts and bolts or would you have to bring out drills, saws and torches.

I've seen two listings for Traveler's here in the last month. Both with the phrase "as you know, no more will be made...".
