m81 35x5min st-10xme take two

Hi all,

I had another chance to get some data for M81, decided to try 5 min subs this time. This represents 36 x 5 min subs, NP-101, G-11, ST-10XME. I'm still not completely happy with the bloom removal effectiveness, but its getting better.
I appreciate your comments and suggestions.

My first LRGB

Hi all, the clouds parted just long enough for me to get 30 min each (10 x 3 min binned 2x2) in RGB. This is my first LRGB image. Vignetting resulted in a darker background in some areas than I would like and I'm really not too sure about my color balance. I also had to crop the image a fair bit to get the framing that I wanted but let me know what you think (I'm just happy to have some color in my stars).

IC 1311 in Cygnus

Spent three nights at the cottage/observatory and only got 3 hours worth of data...doh! Anyway, this is 2 hours worth of IC 1311 in Cygnus. Needs more data, slightly imperfect tracking but an interesting shot nevertheless. Lots of nebulosity and a cluster to boot. Object selected and framed using world wide telescope, which is a fantastic piece of freeware.

Comments and suggestions for improvement are always welcome and appreciated.

IC 1311 LRGB Ha

Hi all,

This is my first pass at processing the LRGB Ha data I collected over the weekend. Here are the image details:
IC 1311 in Cygnus
NP-101; G11; ST-10XME;
L(18x5 min); RGB (12x5 min each); Ha (18x5 min)
This is the first time I've worked with Ha data. I ended up blending it with my luminance data (50%) in photoshop.

NGC 6992

Hi all,

This is the beginning of my NGC 6992 (the Eastern Veil). 11 x 5 min L; 10 x 5 min Ha - ST-10XME; NP-101; G11 - June 23, 2009. I plan on adding more data including the RGB if the planets align and allow me more imaging time. Weather, work and wife have conspired to severely limit my "hobby time" lately.

Hi all, one week so far on vacation and I only have 100 minutes of data with a full moon to share. Decided to try out my C9.25 for some longer focal length Ha shots. Played with my autoguiding parameters quite a bit to get my G11 to behave.

IC 5067 in Ha(6nm astrodon)
C9.25,C6.3 focal reducer
G11 Gemini
20x5min, ST-10XME.
I think this scope/camera combo could have potential. What do you think?

TMB 130SS vs NP-101

Hi all,

I have an opportunity to trade up in aperture from my NP-101 F5.4(great scope, fantastic optics, great for imaging) to a TMB-130SS F7. Has anyone used the TMB? I've heard conflicting views about the optics with respect to thermal stability and quality control issues. I live in the Montreal area and thermal stability would certainly be a factor for me. Any advice would definitely be appreciated. P.S. I am primarily an imager.

Melotte 15 in IC1805

Hi all,

Finally got a couple more hours of clear sky in between the thunderstorms (we have had 3 days in July with no precipitation). Seeing was 2/5, transparency 3/5 and a practically full moon to boot. Anyway, this is Melotte 15 in IC 1805. 9x10 min Ha. NP-101 @ F5.4; ST-10. Comments and suggestions are appreciated.

IC 1396b ha

Hi all,

Not nearly as good as Richard's, but here is my IC 1396b Ha (4h, ST-10XME, Ha astrodon 6nm, NP-101, G11). Full moon limited my data acquisition to Ha only. I will try to get some RBG later. Also, by the way, this is my first image using CCD commander (so I can actually get some sleep). This was also the first image using focusmax (nice piece of software). Comments are always appreciated.
