M 1

Posted By dietmar hager

hi folks,

I have had a long night yesterday.
I decided to capture one of my least favourite nebulas: M1

data:
9" f/7 (with a reducer) TMB Apo
sxv h9c
AstroArt4 for image acquisition, stacking and color conversion.
postprocessing in PS CS2 and PixIS
3 hours of total exposure time.

I hoped to see more of the faint blue haze around the main nebula - but to achieve this I would have to go back again,...
no filters were used.

hope U like it!

hi friends,

I was up a bit longer these days,...(-: and tried this very nice
galaxy
ngc 2903 with my 9" scope.
I used the SXV H9C and collected some data for 150 minutes.

AA4 for image acquisition, color conversion (sigma) and stacking
including a defect-map.
postprocessing in PS CS2 and PixIS

h folks,

as You can porbably tell by taking a look onto my recent m42 image that I have taken with my
4" f/6,2 TMB Apo and sxv m25c (24x16mm) I definately need a field flattner.

does anyone of You have by chance a TMb flattner that is no longer needed?

thanks in advance
Dietmar

M82 reprocessed

Posted By dietmar hager

hi erveryone,

I have laboured very long this afternoon to get my M82 reprocessed.
I think it was worth the effort, at least I hope so...(-:

I was playing around with optimal size; going any further makes no sense.
this is the maximum of enlargement the image tolerates,...hopefully.

again the data:

9" f/9 TMB Apo @f/7
2,3 hours
SXV M25C (enlarged crop)
AstroArt4
PS CS2 (multilayer-mode)
PixIS (smoothening the background)

what do You think...?

thanks for looking.

NGC 2403 - 16" RCOS

hi folks,

I have had the opportunuity to process the data coming from my observatory-mate (he owns the 16" RCOS on a Paramount in an own obs.) Martin.
he has captured NGCV 2403 for 5 hours with the S-BIG 2000 XMC.
I have gotten his stacked FITS file and this is waht I have obtained after color conversion in AstroArt4 and postprocessing is PS CS2

the RCOS scopes seem to be terrific optics!!

hope You like it and - comments appreciated as always.
thanx!

hi folks,

I have had the opportunity tp process another data coming from MArtin`s 16" RCOS, that is attached on a Paramount.
this time: 4 hours
S-BIG 2000 XMC

I have ccolor-converted the stacked FITS in AstroArt4 and postprocessed the whole thing in PS CS2.

what I`d like to ask You:
Martin stacked in CCD-stack. when he converted the image into colors, it has gotton all brown. disgusting almost.
what software do You guys use for colorconversion of the S-BIG 2000 XMC ???
I used AstroArt4 but I`m not sure if this is perfect...?
what I have found was (no matter if deinterlace on or off) a rather huge noise in the background,...
thanks!

M97 - the owlnebula

Posted By dietmar hager

hi folks,

last night - at last - I had the chance to do some imaging. I had to learn it all over again, cos after almost 6 weeks cloudy nights I was a bit "unexperienced"...

I captured the owl for 3 hours and in the first 60 minutes I encountered a super dark sky!!! with a terrific transparency of 8/10 !!!
seeing was less well but still good!

data:

Scope: 9" TMB Apo f/7 (TeleVue reducer 0,8)
CCD: SXV M25C
exp.time: 3 hopurs (8 and 12 minutes frames - no darks)
location: http://stargazer.christelhager.info/index.htm
seeing: 6/10
transparence 8/10 - then falling to 2/10 (end of imaging)
AstroArt4 image acqu. guiding, colors and alignment
postprocessing in PS CS2 and Pix Insight LE

here is the full sized version:

and an enlarged crop:
