I was just wanting something new and since I have never tried this telescope, I ordered the skywatcher 80mm, 910mm FL. I was very surprised at it's quality, it is a goto, and has really good optics especially for the price I paid which at the time a few months ago was 149.00. I have never had a goto that is this accurate and has an object list that blows Meade out of the water. It actually goes to what you are wanting to see. I have a friend at work that had his Meade 5" reflector with the barlow in the focuser to give a longer focal length, and it had more false color than did my skywatcher. Mine had beautiful views of jupiter while his was a weird color of blue. This telesope info isn't that important to most of you, but I wanted to just mention that if you want a very satisfacory grab and go with goto, this little guy should be on your list. It's great for deep space also, but it is 80mm.
When I dont wanna set up the AR5, this one is ready in less than 5 minutes and the views doesn't look like it's coming from a toy. I was just surprised at it's quality for such a low price. The weight is very lite, and I use my celestron power tank with my AR5 ac cord adapter. I have used the battery pack also with the same results. I hadn't ever seen the stargate before and have not seen it on the list of Meade goto objects and it hit dead center, nice object to view. I'm not making any money from Celestron by bragging on it, I thought maybe a couple of A'marters may like to try it. It's not a waste of money. I have enjoyed mine totally. Just check it out if you need something lite with goto and wont break the bank.

Hello all,
I am attempting to build a 10" newt for my eq mount and wiould like to use rotating ring's. Does anyone have plans or ideas on how ro build these rings. I found some for almost 500.00 . I think I could get by for a fractioin of this cost I I build them. Any help would be great. It would help to use when the tube would need to be turned instead of standing on a stool or crawling on the ground. I think most of you know what I'm talking about. So Please HELP!!!
I'm starting another 6" dob with a focal length of 60 inches, which I plan on using as a planet scope. This wont take too long to build, then I want to start the 10" F4 and have a little fun building it. I have found that building scopes is the best medicine I have found for my nerves, and winter time is the best time for me to do this as it's kinda dreary during these months. Any help would be freat. Thanx in advance,

Hi everybody, I just lost the sweetest person near to me. My mother just passed away Monday night. She went so gently while my dad was feeding her. He didn't gasp for breath or have any muscle contractions or spasms at all. It was like she left. Yesterday was my parents 56th wedding anniversary and my dad still bought her some anniversary flower's, the card saying to his baby. They were so close as it should be but dad had her so spoiled like child. She had began regressing in her mind and as long as dad treated her like a small child they were both happy. It's really hard on all of us, but my dad is taking it so bad. He doesn't want to be here any longer. The sound of sobbing is so sad. Anyone that will please say a prayer for my dad, the man that taught me how to be a man so long ago.

If anyone want's to view the leonid meteor shower but can't because of the cloud's, you can listen to them on radar. Space weather dot com has a page to click on to hear the meteor's. When one goes by it gives a long beep. It's prettycool, I knew you could tune a radio in between stations and do this and get some static when a meteor went by but this is way better. Hi Ralph,
I know the type of person you're talking about here, only it wasn't astronomy, it was a person that thought that if he bought the best guitar such as a limited edition type of Fender Stratocaster that it would probably play itself. Needless to say, I went so far as to tell him that I stopped playing guitar and gave all my equipment to my brother and my son. He finally stopped calling and when he would come by I wouldd be outside with a telescope. Thank goodness he doesn't like astronomy. I haven't seen or heard from him in about six year's. The guy couldn't take the hint that he wasn't wanted around when I would be playing music. But in answer to your question yes, and I think a lot of us have had someone like him to bug us to death. I had to resort to a fib, I actually did give some of my equipment to my son, so it wasn't a total lie.

Hello Blake, Telescope Warehouse use to carry these mount's but I don't see any now. Ebay has one that is being auctioned mainly for parts. You could probably get it pretty cheap, it's just up to $11.06 now. It may even be a working mount but either way it can be used. Clear Skies, Darrell

Sounds Great Floyd, You have been quite the busy astronomer this week end and saved around $300.00. You have good reason for being excited, can't wait till you post some photos of everything.

Look's great Floyd, Really nice scope case too. Now we see what the excitement was about. I'm sure that you're getting all cranked up about when you can use it. I wonder if they have those cases big enough for an AR5 or a bazooka lenghth case. It would be easier to carry rather than in both arm's.
Your whole set-up looks fantastic, can't wait to see some of your imaging here on the mart.
