Exit Pupil Question?

Posted By Barry Clarke

A TeleVue 7 mm Nagler used in a FS-128 has a exit pupil of .861 and a 3.5 Nagler has an exit pupil of .430. Question: If you used the 7 MM Nagler with a 2X barlow, is the exit pupil .430 as if you were using the 3.5 Nagler?
Thanks,
Barry

Re: Alternative Dust Cap for FS102

Posted By Barry Clarke

The dust cap is certainly attractive but I would think it is costly. Maybe Art or someone from Takahashi might want to chime in and give a reason why they spend the extra money for this item. Anyway, I just increased my liability insurance incase my 128 cap hits someone in the foot. I understand that the 152 is not insurable (snip)

Pentax XL and the Nagler T6's

Posted By Barry Clarke

I have been using the Pentax XL's and recently switched over to the Nagler T6s because they are much lighter compared to the XL's. I loved the XL's because they have a rotating eyecup that raised or lowered to match my eyesight. Thus, my eyelashes never touched the lens of the eyepiece. Also, I was able to put my eye directly against the eyecup and it blocked stray light. The Naglers do not have these features and when I do use them, I usually have marks on the lens from my eyelashes. How do other users keep their eyelashes from brushing against the lens of their T6's?
Thank you for your suggestions,
Barry

Barlow/Powermate Question

Posted By Barry Clarke

From my understanding, a two inch 2X Powermate is the combination of a Big Barlow and a Panoptic Interface. Anyone know the reason why you cannot buy a two inch 4X Barlow instead of the 4X Powermate?
Thanks,
Barry

Location of patio for observing

Posted By Barry Clarke

Here is a topic I have not seen addressed before. Now that I am retired, the kids are through college, out of the home, I am thinking of downsizing. If you were going to move into, lets say a villa or condo, what direction would you want your patio to face for observing? Reasons?
Thanks,
Barry

Bogen/Manfrotto Altazimuth Mount

Posted By Barry Clarke

I followed with interest this topic in an older forum that was using lighter equipment. I have an FS-128 and been looking for altazimuth mount with slow motion controls that will handle the extra weight for a long time. How about using a Bogen 3263 head with a Bogen 3190 tripod? The 3263 is a geared head with slow motion controls, and is rated for 22 pounds. The Bogen 3190 tripod is rated at 44 pounds or their new 528XB tripod is rated at 66 pounds. Do you think this setup could work? Additional ideas or suggestions that are both pro and con are appreciated.
Best regards,
Barry

Green-Light Laser

It is as though they are fair traided. Several months ago I check and the prices were $235.00. I would suspect that they will come down with demand as with anything else.

Stan,
I cannot anwser your question, but maybe if you go to GROUPS.YAHOO.COM/GROUPS/VIXEN-SCOPES/ you can find someone there that can help. They are list under amateur groups, are the 38th group with 313 members. It is worth a shot.
