Back in the good ole days... I think I refer to 1991 (Which was a fantastic year of fishing), there was a University Optics 80mm superfinder with a Unitron stamped cap cover. I have a few questions about them. I heard rumors that they are really an extra low dispersion model of the small refractors. Is this accurate?

I tried searching online and read a lot of the reviews from Excelsis. It appears that they are listed at f/6.3 at 500mm FL. Were there any other focal lengths? The seller of the first one I purchased stated that it was a 450mm FL and that he was envisioning it at f/5.6. If I look at the cap, it doesn't look as if it says Unitron but I can't make out the stamp.

I was able to come by a second one, and it looked like the same telescope BUT the stamp clearly displays Unitron. What do I have concerning the first one I purchased?


Has anyone seen this before from the 80mm superfinders?

I have to say maybe devious for providing temptation...

I was able to come by the same eyepiece Steven, yet I have no clue on the make either. I assumed that it wasn't manufactured in Japan or by University's ortho provider. It has the look of the Meade eyepieces around the same year. It has been a staple of mine between my 80mm UO super finder and 8" Meade 2080 SCT. Fine views in a heavily polluted Pittsburgh. But this is a newbie buying up Kellners like they are going out of style... 8O

I picked up a Celestron 4" NexStar (102mm F/10) and it is a little travel Mak. I think it was around $200 new. In fact, it seems to be a good planetary ota in general as well as lunar scope.

I think there are different levels of support that could get you to where you want to be ad wise. If I were somewhat in a position to, I wouldn't hesitate with a $500 support level, alas, I am not allocated for it. I think the 40 counts toward your sponsorship as well...Purple level maybe?
