I guess what I don't understand is why these people feel then need to steal and rip others off?? I'd guess that 99.99% of us here on Astromart work hard for a living and for our telescope addictions, and that one .01% has to ruin everything they get their tentacles on.

I'd also stress that astronomy can be enjoyed without buying a 30" obsession or 9" TMB the first day. So as Christine pointed out, bring up some favorite books/charts at least a little.

There are no differences in the two (Meade vs Celestron). I believe they are made in the same factory with a different name put on. I have had both and they work great. Go for whatever one you can find cheapest

It is comparable to the venerable C8. At that price I'd get one if I didn't have an 8" LX200 right now. The 8" SCT tends to be a great scope for most people. It is easy to more (especially the LX10 model with the light forks) and still stable enough for great visual use.

John gave some great advice. His most important is that you don't "need" 2" eyepieces just yet. I've been observing for close to 9 years now and bought my first few 2" eyepieces this month! I never really missed them.
Some good eyepieces to start with would be the Televue Plossls, Meade 4000 Series plossls...etc. With the scope you have (which is excellent by the way!), don't go for the ultra cheap eyepieces. Keep an eye out for Radians (TV), Ultrascopics (Orion)and other high-end eyepieces here on Astromart.
Just for reference, here is what I have:
32mm Meade SWA(this is a GREAT eyepiece for a SCT)
22.5mm Siebert Ultra Plus (probably my most used eyepiece)
14mm Meade UWA (great for globular clusters and smaller open clusters)
TV 2x barlow
So I have:
32, 22.5, 16, 14, 11 and 7mm eyepieces which seems about perfect for what I do.
The 7mm gives me 285x, so I can rarely use anything higher than that with the SCT.
